The Creative Bits
So, as you might have guessed, we're looking to bring on more artists to help us out. We don't have any set goal or limit in mind; one new person or ten wouldn't matter as long as they're all good fits to the team. We also don't have any particular time frame in mind, and this thread might stay open six months, six years, or maybe
forever if we think it needs to - so don't be put off by number of applicants or time passed since this posting. If we stop looking, we'll close the thread. Simple!
There's more detailed information below, but please keep in mind: all artists need to be able to at least edit bases, even if they're not comfortable drawing totally unique art for the shop. We are also currently preferring artists who are comfortable or would rather work with humanoid bases, as several of our staff already prefer quadruped designs!
Art Guidelines
Now, if you've read this far, looked over the shop, and you're still interested in working with us, you're going to need to know a little about our art expectations before anything. Here's a quick rundown:
- We don't require shading, but we allow it.
- We don't require you to use our bases, but we have several available.
- We don't require you to match the base style; you can redraw or edit as desired if you choose to work from one.
- We don't require you to be able to create off-base/unique art, but you're allowed as you wish.
- You must maintain a level of quality consistent with your application. Don't apply with your best - apply with your typical.
- Your work should, in general, be consistent to itself as well. Unless specifically doing glitch art, for instance, you shouldn't have heavy artifacting, and you shouldn't have color spills or unfilled pixels in a smoothly colored base, etc.
In short, we have very few guidelines beyond make it
look good. Of course, we recognize that's a very subjective statement, but it's the best one that we can give you due to the level of freedom we allow. Since there is no real numerical scale or standard we can use to explain, the best we can offer is ... just apply! There's nothing to lose, after all - at worst, we don't think you'd be a fit for our team, and at best, well, you'll be
on the team, right?
Content Guidelines
Generally speaking, you're able to create any sort of content you'd like in terms of outfit or features, so long as they don't break the site's rules and they fit into our
racial guidelines. These are always available for you to reference, and the owners of the shop are always happy to answer questions, so you don't need to worry about feeling like you need to memorize everything.
We fully encourage our staff to have fun and be creative, and to that end we also don't require you to judge things like edit levels or percentages. You may freely add accessories and clothes to any creation without fear, and you'll be given explicit restrictions on star levels allowed for any event so you can easily pick and create traits without the stress of "too much" or "too little."
