Walking deeper into the area just past the thorny bushes, instead of leading to any sort of open area, just led them straight into more thorny bushes. Since Tori has said that her Vulpix could handle the next one, Eulalio gestured towards the thickest of the bushes. With a confident nod, Tori put down Pearl and let her at it.
Unfortunately, Tori's suspicions were correct in that Pearls moves weren't well suited for shrubbery. With two full power moves, Pearl was exhausted and drooping. She didn't even protest when Tori recalled her back into her ball.
"Alright Tansy, you're up again. Take this bush out!" Eulalio sent Tansy out to rend the thorny bushes. The joltik whiffed, missing the bush entirely the first time and then doing almost nothing to it the second time. With all the effort they put forth, it was too much and they tired themselves out. With a frown, Eulalio recalled Tansy and sent out Bonbon.
The sentret was one of Eulalio's powerhouses. Eulalio had full confidence that Bonbon would slash through the bushes with ease. Two other pokemon had already damaged it at least a little. All Bonbon had to do was deal it the final blow. The sentret looked around for a moment before diving forward to use fury swipes on the thorn-covered bush only to miss and throw itself directly into the bush. While he thrashed trying to get out of the bushes, he ended up doing so much damage to himself that Eulalio couldn't stand to even let him make a second attempt. Bonbon was put away for the rest of the trip.
"I think we might need to just head back," Eulalio sighed. With most of the stronger pokemon they had down and out for the count, it would probably be a good idea to get them patched up instead of trying again. Blodwyn and Rue wouldn't be able to get through the bush.
"No, let's let Caspian try. I know they can do it!" Tori insisted. She let out the chingling and then set it on the bush. This was it, if Caspian couldn't get through the bush they would have to turn back. Both of them held their breath as Caspain powered up their move. With a great woosh, Caspian broke through the thorny bushes and got them through to the other side. Tori pulled the chingling close and praised the loving daylights out of them. Even though the pair of them probably wouldn't continue for too much longer, getting through this obstacle had started to feel like an impossible task.
