After the storm which ravaged the shores of Nauwill passed, one thing became apparent; more hands were going to be needed, human and pokémon alike, in order to keep Doveport and its residents safe. Between the need for self-sustained food, the requirement of trainers to help guide pokémon-based constructions, and the simple growing need for vendors and shopkeepers, the factions realized the number of qualified immigrants was not covering the needs of the settlement.

What to do, though? The requirements weren't as harsh as they could be, but certainly it could be argued that there was little incentive to people who were firmly established in their lives to come and help. The danger, of course, only exacerbated that. Why would anyone come now when they could just wait out the worst? Come once things were safer?

So it was that a new ... policy of sorts was finally created. Maybe it really was desperation and hope for it that drove their decision, and with it the chance to bring a fresh drive of faces to the new region.

The Nauwillian Rehabilitation Center - a place for people with less than savory backgrounds to cut their losses and start anew under the watchful eye of the region's new settlers.

The opening of The Nauwillian Rehabilitation Center (TNRC for short) is the first player-driven change in Pokémon Expeditions. Your characters and actions as well as dedication to the exploration of the island have begun to weave the story of a community learning to lean on each other in strange times, and the push of your efforts are opening new avenues of play - both in the literal map expansion coming soon and also in this change for the shop.

We won't be focusing on all character-creation changes for this event, but it represents a major one: we are loosening our stance on Team members (and criminals of certain sorts).

In character, the NRC is a housing unit for ex-Team members - explicitly those who wish to escape their criminal ties and start a new life. While these people have previously been barred from immigration, the program aims to allow those cleared for entry to come and be employed as any other citizen; they are given jobs and allowed to live, for the most part, normally. There are terms and requirements, however:

Everyone in the rehabilitation program has to attend weekly meetings to help focus on their mental health and, for ex-Team members in particular, progress reintegrating into society. They are also required to wear tracking bracelets for two years in order to ensure their compliance. They also live under the understanding that any act of violence, assault, or theft is grounds for their deportation to their region of origin, and are required to sign into such a contract before arrival.

Out of character, this is our official statement: we're now allowing ex-Team members and criminal characters! However, there are limits. For example, you still can't dream up a mass murderer and expect them to be granted access to Nauwill.

More details will come later, but you'll be given guidelines for this contest, so don't worry.

Character Creation Contest: Criminal Edition!​

This is a combination raffle and character creation event! For this event, you'll be coming up with a character concept; it doesn't have to be a firm one, and you don't even have to use it if you don't want to - we just want you to play in the space and have fun coming up with an idea that sounds neat.

What's the catch? They have to be a character applying to come and enroll in TNRC's program, obviously! This means they'll need to be some kind of criminal or Team/ex-Team member who's looking to leave their past behind and show they're ready to change the choices they made for themselves.

Here's how the game's going to roll out:

• Make a post with the form below. Do not delete or spoil sections or change the font!
• Fill out as much or as little as you like. You may edit up until the end of the game!
• For every section you fill out, you get a ticket.
• At the end of the game, my favorite character gets their top pick of the three pokémon above.
• The other two will be rolled from remaining ticket holders!
• You may only win one pokémon!
• You don't have to use your concept, but please do make them real characters if you want!

That's it! You don't need to be super detailed or write ten pages of information (unless you're inspired!) - I just want to see everyone get that inspiration flowing since y'all have expressed several times you're interested in bringing over some Team members. Well - let's see them!

Character Guidelines and Form​

There are a few guidelines your concept must fit; failing to conform to these will result in an immediate disqualification:

• Your character may not be a previous Champion.
• Your character cannot be the best-in-the-world at something.
• Your character may not be or have ever been an executive or leader of a criminal or violent Team, even ones that are disbanded. That means Rocket, Aqua, Magma, Galactic, Plasma, Flare, Rainbow Rocket, Cipher, Snagem, Dim Sum, Debonairs, Pinchers, or Break.
• Your character may not be convicted for murder.
• Your character may not be a sex criminal.
• Your character must be at least 18 years of age. No character under this age will be allowed.

Anything else? Sky's the limit unless y'all dig around and figure out something I didn't think of.

History:

[ childhood ] Marina was born to a small family consisting of her father, her mother, and now her. Her father was a seafaring man who loved to travel. He made his living fishing and shipping goods all over Hoenn and to other regions when he wasn't busy ferrying people. She doesn't know much about her mother, only that her father loved her deeply. Mar was three when a fire destroyed their home and killed her mother. From then on, Mar was raised by her father alone. No one blames him for how Mar turned out, no one except himself, of course.

[ pokémon ] Marina went with her father on every job; the girl loved the sea. They traveled all over. Mostly they stayed in the Hoenn region, but every so often they would ferry some trainer to their new home where they would begin their Pokémon journey. Marina loved these trips the most, for her second love was Pokémon. As a young child, her father offered her a few; an Azurill, a Goldeen, and a Psyduck. She turned them all down. No, she wanted to get her own Pokémon. Mar had always been the independent one. Then one day, when she was six, she was out playing with a group of boys. Everyone was daring each other to go into the dark and scary cave, the one Brawly had specifically ordered them not to go into. It didn't take much teasing to get Mar to agree, so she swallowed her fears and charged in. She was easily lost in the darkness and was growing angry and scared. Screaming in frustration, she kicked out, accidentally knocking over a tiny little Aron who had been following her. Immediately she felt regret and coaxed the poor thing over. He was fine and after some promises of treats, the little steel type lead her out of the cave. A few hours had passed and everyone was furious with her, but she had a new friend! She named him Skelly and thus began her own, misguided adventures.

[ team skull ] As a young teenager, Mar and her father were on one of their many trips with a new trainer. This time, it was to a new place; Alola. Marina, eager to see what kind of trouble she could get into here, snuck off the boat and slunk off toward the city. She used her Larion to terrify weaker trainers, stealing their money when she kicked their butts. She stole an arm full of malasadas and stuffed her face until she horked. She shoplifted from the local stores, trying on things and then hiding them under her own clothes. Ah, it was such a blast! As she left a shop, pulling a newly stolen cap on her head, she saw them for the first time. A group of ruffians, badgering a trainer fresh off the boat. Her father's boat. With a devilish grin, she sauntered over and pushed her way through. She mockingly begged the hooligans to stop their evil deeds; the trainer was so relieved that he genuinely believed her. Then, just as he was standing up, she turned and kneed him hard in the stomach and kicked him to the ground. She snatched the kid's bag and slung it over her shoulder, spitting into the sand beside him, and left. The trainer snitched and told her dad, who was disappointed and frustrated, but the word of her misdeeds traveled all over the island, and soon enough, she was approached by Team Skull. She was treading on their turf, and they didn't like it. She thoroughly beat the asses of the grunts sent to apprehend her and sent them running with their tails between their legs. Next time, Plumeria stepped up and an agreement was struck. Mar ran away, telling her father she was staying there, on the island, with no rules, no worries. Her father left her, but he didn't give up. He visited every month and pleaded with his daughter to return.

[ caught ] Marina quickly earned respect under the eyes of Plumeria and, one day, was asked to go on an important mission for their "secret benefactor." In the dead of night, she slipped into the home of Professor Kukui. Her goal was to steal some bag. It sounded boring, so after she got the dumb bag, she went about swiping some other stuff too. She went to shove her prize into the bag, but when she unzipped it a strange explosion occurred and, needless to say, Marina was caught. She was handed over to the police and, having failed her mission, Team Skull broke contact with her. She was locked up for almost a week when her father came and bailed her out. She begrudgingly went home with him, expecting yet another ear full of righteous lectures about right and wrong. Instead, he was silent. When they were home, he went right to his room and shut the door. A bit confused, she did the same and found the package sitting on her bed. The next morning, he loaded her up onto his boat and took her to where the boat that would take her to Nauwill was docked. "Do this. Not for me. Not even for her. But for yourself, Mar. I know there's some good in you somewhere. Go. Find it." He said, shoving the package back into her arms. For once, she listened.​

Remember what made them realize they wanted out?: a desire for change again. And being put in an uncomfortable situation with his back against the wall. Violence had never bothered him before. He was used to it. But when someone pulled that against his own pokemon, he was NOT happy. He took his pokemon and quit. He was old enough now to survive on his own. He didn’t need anybody else.

Known Criminal History: mostly theft/robbery (money, items he could resell, vehicles , food, clothing), holding people or pokemon for ransom (nothing like murder or anything though xD )

Personality Overview: Quiet, loner, strong-silent type. Would rather rely on pokemon rather than people as he has trust issues.

Something Negative: how emotional he can be

History: When he was young his single mother died in a car accident alongside her pokemon. He was injured but survived. He bounced around from relative to relative. No one wanted to keep him as he was a ‘trouble maker’ and caused them problems. Though really he was only acting out for attention. He was lonely and didn’t have many friends. He spent a lot of time in Lavender Town, mourning the loss of his mom and her pokemon. While visiting the gravesite, he met a ghastly. It kept trying to prank him and make him smile and laugh. Eventually it followed him home and refused to leave. So he let it stay. His caretakers weren’t happy about it though. They thought it would just make him get into more mischief. Al became angry with them and decided to run away. In which he was successful. No one came after him or anything. Which only seemed to upset him further. He took up stealing for food, clothes, or anything else he wanted. He was picked up by some older rocket thugs. They kept him around for odd jobs, and anything else they didn’t feel like doing themselves. He basically grew into the role. Became a Rocket lackey. And jus did whatever he was told.

Previous Team Affiliation/Ranking: Team Skull for a short period of time. She was a step above entry level grunt, whatever that would be called. However, she only did it because she wanted to get payback against the team that was terrorizing her home. Poli'ahu even went so far as to cut her hair and put in contacts every single day to look different, just in case they had been able to recognize her before.

Known Criminal History: Mass hospitalization of Team Skull members, as well as many innocents that weren't her intended target. It was caused by a huge amount of various toxic gases from her Poke'mon. None of them were fatal, as she had no intention of killing anyone. But the fact that there were a handful of innocents amongst the victims - mainly family of the team members - she was arrested and thrown into jail.

History:
- Born and raised in Alola on Akala Island
- Mother was the Kahuna of Akala Island
- Father was a stay at home dad, tending to Poli'ahu each and every day
- Raised in a very loving home where she was encouraged to try and do many different things
- Learned how to dance from an early age, and was very deeply integrated into the traditions of the island
- While exploring the island one day with her father at the age of nine, she met an injured Salandit near a cave
- Took the Salandit home to help it recover and ended up bonding tightly with it
- Began to train for the possibility of taking on the Island Trials two years later, eventually catching a Gastly, Spinarak, Mareanie, and trading for a Venipede and female Nidoran.
- By the time she could participate in trials, her team was Salandit, Nidorina, Ariados, Whirlipede, Gastly, Mareanie (everyone was about early 20's level)
- By the time she was done with the trials, her team was Salazzle, Nidorina, Ariados, Haunter, Toxapex and Scolipede. (she also had a harem of Salandit on the side for her Salazzle, they just weren't battlers)
- It took her two years to fully beat all the trials, with tons of training in between.
- Once the trials were done, Poli'ahu continued pursuing her dream of dancing all over the world, though she hadn't gotten out of Alola just yet.
- While she had returned to dancing, a more pressing matter had come to light.
- Team Skull was invading various areas of the region, and had taken up a base on Akala Island.
- They began terrorizing the local population, both of people and Poke'mon, and even attempted to battle Poli'ahu's mother many times.
- By the time she was 16, her mother was attacked by Team Skull and left in the hospital.
- Not only were they terrorizing the people, but they were also messing with the ecosystem by scooping up as many Poke'mon as they could.
- Poli'ahu had become to be fed up with this and their blatant disregard for the traditions and native Poke'mon of the region.
- She started out trying to battle them until they'd leave, but it didn't particularly work.
- At the age of 18, when battling a particularly hardy and cruel Team Skull member, Poli'ahu's Salazzle was injured so terribly that she passed away before even reaching a Poke'mon Center.
- In her grief, Poli'ahu released all the Salandit she'd captured for her Salazzle, so they could find a proper home again, and began to formulate a proper plan to make Team Skull leave.
- At age 20, Poli'ahu cut her hair and put in contacts to try to join Team Skull under an alias, to take them down from the inside.
- It worked, and it took her another two years (age 22) to prove her "loyalty" to the team, fighting non team members and helping to catch Poke'mon for research (much to her distaste).
- Team expanded tremendously due to the connections with Team Skull, though, and getting off island Poke'mon - obtained an Ekans, Toxel, Skorupi, Croagunk and Foongus.
- With a large enough team finally, Poli'ahu began to work towards her original goal: taking down Team Skull and getting them to leave the Alolan region.
- Within the year (age 23) she had built up enough strength with her Poke'mon to have a large enough amount of poison gas to enact her plan. (Nidoqueen, Ariados, Gengar, Toxapex, Scolipede, Arbok, Toxel, Skorupi, Croagunk, Foonguss)
- Poli'ahu let loose the poison gas into the vents of the base, which ended up making hundreds of people sick, and several got very close to dying. (but no one actually did die)
- Every single Skull Team member in the base at the time was hospitalized from the poisoning, along with many innocent people who were family members of the team members, or friends they were trying to recruit.
- She was caught immediately thanks to the camera security of the base, and while Team Skull was taken into custody as they were recovering, Poli'ahu was also taken into custody for poisoning people on such a massive scale.
- Poli'ahu was taken to jail after a massive two year long trial (age 25) for the mass poisoning, all of her Poke'mon stripped from her and sent to her mother and father, even though the lawyer had fought valiantly for her trying to protect her home region from Team Skull.
- When the NRC came around, Poli'ahu was one of the first to put her name on the list for the rehabilitation.
- She had grown to regret the path she took in Team Skull, and hurting all the people that she had.
- Hearing about Nauwill made her strengthen her resolve to try to keep a new, unblemished place from being corrupted the way that Team Skull had corrupted her and her home.

Wen is a tiny slip of a thing and easily over look and usually thought to be much younger then he is. Being constantly underestimated made it easy for him to deliver need supplies to grunts and field agents without anyone being wiser. You be amazed what you can smuggle in a couple of pizza boxes without anyone noticing.

Known Criminal History:
Trespassing, breaking and entering, truancy, pick pocketing, false reporting , aiding and abetting
Wen has done a lot of shit, he doesn't remember all of it since he has been going on jobs with his dad since he was like three. He is pretty sure that was all the shit they mention when arresting him... maybe? He was rather shocky during that.

Personality Overview: Wen is a calm and collected individual, not much shocks him and he is surprisingly well traveled for his age. He seems rather expressionless, only minuscule shifts in his mouth or eyes betray his emotions. He is an obedient and dutiful child and a secretly a mess of anxiety about disappointing the people he cares about. Prone to pushing himself beyond his capabilities.

Something Positive: Does his shiny pink Dratini count? Wen doesn't have a lot of pokemon, Dratini, Poochyena, and Girafarig but the three he has is very well cared for and trained. He is rather proud of his ability to care and train for his team.

Something Negative: Wen is short, and delicate in health and strength and this fact makes him push himself well beyond healthy in an attempt to make up for his short comings. Kid has a complex.

History: Wen was born in Saffron city, Kanto. The only child to his parents. His mother was a well known enviormental activist and his father her trophy husband. He was expected to do great things. In reality, both of his parents were in Team Rocket, high up in the ranks. His mother had created their alibi, her beautiful delicate face making her an instant hit with social media and she became the face of an activist group, covering up movements of agents and supplies.

His father was lesser know, occasionally appearing in a vid but never the face of anything. Considering he was a clean up hit man for the organization, he was just enough of a presence to seem that he was normal.

Wen first few years were normal outside the constant travel, but his mother became sick and died due to her illness. There was a scramble to introduce a new face of the organization and his father and him quietly disappeared into the back ground. He traveled with his father from place to place as his father cleaned up problems for Team Rocket.

He was officially inducted to the organization when he was 12, handling minor supply jobs. Usually delivering funds and picking up information. It slowly picked up as he grew older becoming more and more vital until he was supplying everything from drugs, Pokemon, weapons, even vehicles on occasion.

Things were going well until one of his fathers targets was capture and brought into protective custody, willing to cut a deal for safety. They had fucked up an very important project and it hadn't been the first time that they had caused the group to loose a high stake project. One of the many they gave up was Wen father in their quest for a deal.

The deal went down and a raid happened on various hide outs and domiciles and one on a high end hotel Wen and his father were staying at. Wen had left to go and get lunch at a food truck and when returning to their room started to notice there seemed to be a lot of under cover cops, like yeah usually there was some form of security but this was not good. He sent a quick text to his dad and continued up like nothing was wrong. Rule one, don't tip them off you know.

His dad had already picked up on something going down and was in full gear. They were in the middle of an argument when the hotel door was kicked down and Wen found himself being tossed out the hotel window by his dad, taking two shots to his shoulder and almost loosing conscious when Blinks his Dad's Charizard snagged him out of the air and attempted to flee.
One air chase and grounding later, he ended up in custody in a hospital.

Needless to say it hasn't been a fun time of late.

Remember what drove them to crime or to join a Team?: The same thing that drives many young people to crime... tiddies love. She joined team rocket because she girl she was in love with was infatuated with the idea of noble criminals and rebellious bad boys. Her plan worked -- she was very impressed -- but the relationship didn't last as long as the criminal record did. By that point Libby was pretty content in her lifestyle anyway.
Remember what made them realize they wanted out?: It was less "wanting out" and more "getting out while the getting was good". She was part of a heist at the Celadon Hotel, which went sideways (definitely not because she failed to properly disable the alarm system) and her whole crew got snatched by the authorities. Knowing that she was screwed even if she got off on the charges (her direct superiors at Team Rocket were not the kind to take that level of fuck up lightly), Libby sold out everyone and everything she could for the best deal she could get.

Flown on a plane or a large pokémon?: Both! In each case it was as part of her work with Team Rocket. Her family was too poor to have flown anywhere when she was younger, so her first time on a plane was when she was assigned to a job in the Kalos region. She's flown a few times on various teammates pokemon over the years, often during a getaway.
Ridden on a train?: Frequently; specifically the magnet train that ran between Goldenrod and Saffron City.
Listened to an orchestral concert?: That seems like some boogie nonsense, and she has absolutely not done that. Does she seem like an "orchestral concert" kind of girl to you? Why would you even ask that? (She'd kind of love to, honestly...)
Gone swimming in the ocean?: Yes, reluctantly. One of her teammates insisted they go to the beach on one of their days off -- Libby burned horribly, and has hated the ocean ever since.
Had a near death experience?: She nearly fell to her death while scaling a building once, but her ariados (which was specially trained to help with these kinds of activities) caught her. There have been a few other incidents -- being a Rocket Grunt was a thankless and dangerous job sometimes -- but that was probably the one that stuck with her the most.
Had a significant other?: Libby has had a series of lovely girlfriends, all of whom have dumped her ass after a while. She had an absolute preference for high-femmes and "princess" types. Her first girl friend got tired of her when Libby revealed the softer/girlier elements of her personality, and every one since then has dumped her for being emotionally unavailable. These two facts are not related.
Lost a friend or loved one?: To death? Not really. Her father is dead, but she stopped speaking to both of her parents as soon as she was able to get out of their house, so that wasn't a huge emotional hit.
Tried caramel popcorn?: Yes; it got stuck in her teeth and it was a bit too sweet for her taste. Libby much preferred the cheesy popcorn, which she got at the same time (at a fair her team was raiding).

Previous Team Affiliation/Ranking: Libby was a mid-level grunt with Team Rocket. She was fairly specialized in her skill set, which got her a certain amount of respect and raised her above the lowest ranks, but she was never what you would consider management. It was pretty sweet work, in her opinion. She got out of doing a lot of the heavier / more medial work, and she got a decent pay cheque out of the deal.

Known Criminal History: Libby's specialty was communication. She got a reputation for how well trained her bug pokemon were, and became tasked with facilitating covert communication and item transportation with them. After all, butterfree were so common in the region, people tended to not really see them. Flying pokemon were the more traditional messengers, so they tended to slip by even people looking out for that kind of thing, and even Rocket communication devices could be hacked. Her second skill set was breaking and entering -- also made possible by her specially trained bug-types. Caterpie were small enough to slip in and out of air ducts, and their webbing was excellent for interfering with sensors and cameras.

Personality Overview: If asked, her peers would probably have described Libby as a little bit mean, and a little bit stupid, but a lot of fun. She was certainly clever, and had a knack for creative problem solving that made her a valuable asset on teams. However, she was also very easily distracted and/or swayed by a pretty girl. She also tended not to take things very seriously, and has poor impulse control, which could be annoying for her more business minded coworkers. Socially Libby has always been very easy going and tended to make friends quickly, although her interactions were often quite shallow and she didn't tend to make many strong connections. She's always the first to suggest something reckless, and she's never turned down a dare. Libby also has a bit of a chip on her shoulder, and knows how to hold a grudge. She has limited respect for any authority that expects you to follow it "just because" (like the law), but she is too much of a coward to rebel against authority that will actually back their authority up with actions (like her bosses).

Something Positive: Her favourite thing about herself is the fact that she ingratiates herself with people quickly. A Rocket executive once told her that if she had a little bit more focus and patience, she would have made an excellent conwoman. As it is, she finds she has very limited trouble navigating most social situations (as long as they're short lived).

Something Negative: Libby has always had a weakness for soft and girly things. Growing up she was always crawling around in the dirt with the bug-types, and her personal aesthetic always leaned towards the tom-boy-ish, so everyone assumed she would hate girly things and she really internalized that expectation. She still enjoys them, but she thinks of them as indulgences, and she get defensive when other people point it out. (The real weakness is insecurity and cowardice, but she thinks its being Soft (TM).)

History: Libby grew up in what could generously be called an upper lower class family. She always had a roof over her head and food in her fridge, but there weren't a lot of luxuries to be found. At least, not for her. When her father came in to any kind of money he would spend it gambling at the Celadon Casino, or on some elaborate gift for her mother if he was in a good mood and the two of them weren't fighting. Both of her parents tended to think of Libby as a burden, and didn't spare much care or attention for her, so she became very independent very quickly.

By the time she was in high school, Libby had started to be very resentful of the people who had more than she did. She was a bit covetous of the little luxuries her schoolmates took for granted (cute stationary, cheap makeup, fancy drinks), and she turned to cons and shoplifting to level the paying field. Although her oldest and truest friends were from what the teachers would have called "the wrong crowd", Libby insinuated herself fairly well with her more affluent classmates, who she routinely tricked and exploited for her own benefit. She never felt bad about it, because she knew that they were using her and each other just as much, if in less tangible ways.

Shortly after graduating Libby took a short lived job at a department store where she met a young woman who she fell madly in lust love with. The girl was a bit of a romantic herself, who would spend large portions of their shifts gushing about whatever bad boy or sexy villainess featured in current fictional hyperfixation. Libby started doing some odd jobs for Team Rocket in order to impress her, and it worked. They lived together for over a year before she realized Libby wasn't as much of a badass as she'd presented herself as.

That was fine though -- by then Libby had established herself a comfortable little routine within the criminal organization, and her newly-single status gave her more time to refine some of her less petty criminal skills. She proved her value to the Team, and started earning enough to support the kind of lifestyle she had longed for as a kid. All in all, she thought she had a pretty comfortable life.

Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. Some combination of her inflated confidence and distractible nature led to her making a critical mistake during a high stakes assignment. Her team was supposed to be robbing a Hoennian businessman, but she failed to properly disable the alarm, and the authorities were on them before they even knew anything was wrong. It had been a really important job, and the consequences for failure would have been high. However, loyalty was never one of Libby's core traits, so she rolled on her companions in exchange for lenience and a shot at the newly announced NRC.

Remember what drove them to crime or to join a Team?: After her parents divorced and her father and brother left she was left with her mother who was manipulative and a drunk. Their finances took a hit and her mother kept taking everything she had whenever she had it so Mel started to steal and ended up joining a criminal group for money to help cover bills and just take care of herself and her mother.
Remember what made them realize they wanted out?: When her mother found a new lover and just up and left Mel in jail after Melody had stolen equipment for the team and ended up having to be the scape goat for the team as the police got to close. There had been several lovers and toys before then but this time her mother just up and left the region with the man so all Mel was left with was debt, a crappy apartment in a run down unsafe part of the town and criminal record. She had nothing no help, no others to rely on and she broke in jail and decided to leave as she had no point for anything anymore.

Listened to an orchestral concert?: On CD several times but never in person in a seat. There has been a few times she has been in an alley outside a local theature and could hear part of the performance but she could never afford the tickets to sit in person. Honestly though a rock concert would bring her more joy so she wouldn’t go after a ticket unless dragged along for someone else anyway.
Gone swimming in the ocean?: Yes she has been to the ocean several times in her youth when her parents were still happy and her world hadn’t fallen apart. It’s actually one of the reason she isn’t fond of water types as they just remind her of how happy she was a a child and then after the divorce how her life fell apart.

She has been in a car accident escaping a heist stealing a markets supply of pokeballs and the tire blew out and the driver lost control of the car and it rolled down an embankment hit a tree. She has a few scars on her shoulders and legs from the accident. Her other near death experience is far less dramatic. She was crossing the road and a careless driver nearly hit her as they weren’t paying attention. A random stranger pulled her back and saved her life. She can’t remember his name.
Had a significant other?: Sort of? She has had several boyfriends and even a girlfriend but with her work as a grunt she feared getting to close as if they weren’t part of the group they could turn on her and put her in jail and if they were part of the group they could end up in jail and she would be alone or like what happened to her latter one of them would be made a scape goat and the risk of betrayal would be high.
Lost a friend or loved one?: Yes but they are still alive. Probably. She had an older brother who she idolized. She lover her parents but her brother was a whole 10 years older then her and took time to help take care of her when she was little so she loved him dearly. Then her mother’s affair came to light, and when she was seven and there was a nasty messy divorce where she was placed with her mother and they moved.
Tried caramel popcorn?: Yes. She has gone to the movies a few times, well snuck in more then she paid but hey who really keeps track of that. And you can’t see a movie without some popcorn. She has no qualms if someone leaves a half empty popcorn by their seat and they leave she would sneak in grab it and leave before the staff came to clean while she just snuck into a different theature and watched the movie in that one.
Practiced a craft or visual art?: Lock-picking counts as a craft right? She has practiced that a lot. She has also practiced disguise and looking unobtrusive. Did you know if you where a pair of overalls and carry a tool box you can get into most any building and very few folks question you when you look like maintenance or a janitor? Not even kidding on that one.
Learned to play an instrument?: She had to play one of those little kid recorders while she was still going to school so she knew how to play a few songs at one point but doesn’t remember how to anymore. She also never learned another
Caught a wild pokémon?: wild as in from the woods and not stolen from a Pokemon center or inattentive folks in the city right? Yes a few times she has trained and caught some Pokemon in the woods and grassy areas around the city
Released a pokémon?: yes. She once had a caterpie that was weak and useless and one of her teammates wanted her to actually feed it to his Spearrow. Guy was a real freak in her eyes. She refused but eventually he got promoted for doing a really good job and while she didn’t really like the caterpie she didn’t want it to be eaten or abused by that jerk since he could order her to give it to him so she took and released it instead. She told the guy and that is what started his real issue with her and latter when he was her grunt group leader and they needed a fall man she was ‘volentold’ she would play the part.

Previous Team Affiliation/Ranking: Team rocket grunt. While not the most powerful member, in fact quite weak overall even compared to her own teammates Mel was only a low level grunt who was easy to replace and often getting passed up for promotions as she wasn’t as ‘greedy’ or ‘ambitious’ as other members.

Known Criminal History: Mel has been involved in a number of crimes. Some would be petty some less so. She has committed larceny multiple times as she as stolen form pokemon centers, markets, homes, you name it she has likely tried to steal form it. She hasn’t always gotten away with it but she didn’t make it easy on the police and has resisted arrest several times. She has committed arson but never got caught thankfully. She burned down a storage barn after stealing the pokemon feed out of it as per her orders. She has destroyed property and trespassed many times. She has never abused a pokemon or a person though. Damage to property is one thing but she can’t stand the idea of hurting a person or a pokemon. This actually lead to the cops getting to close and her group in the organization ended up needing a fall person and because she wouldn’t hurt the shop keep they had stolen from she was ‘volentold’ to take the position and ended up in jail.


Personality Overview: She isn’t brave, or wise but she is normally fairly likable. She is desperate to survive and willing to steal and break things to do so, she carries a great amount of guilt and regret for what she does but she wants to survive and even though she was abused physically and emotionally by her mother she felt the need to take care of her as once she is close to someone she will sympathize more with them that is healthy for her own good. (those weekly therapy sessions will be very helpful to her mental state) Since her mother and team up and abandoned her she has been listless and repentant. Those cops who have seen her before had seen far more fire and spark then what she is like now. She put in an application to the island at the recommendation of a correctional office who noticed she wasn’t as violent or malicious as other members they have had in the past.

Something Positive: Her hair. It’s like her older brothers though his is more purplish then her hair is. But it makes her remember when he used to pat her head when he played with her as a child and took her places listening to his cd player with her since her parents were busy screaming at each other. She grew her hair long enough to braid so she could flip it over her shoulder and rub and touch it as it’s a comfort to her.

Something Negative: Her eye color. It’s like her mothers and every time she looks closely at her eyes in the mirror she can see and hear every insult her mother hurtled at her over the years. Only to latter hear the pleading her mother did gaslighting her and evoking guilt in Mel. It left a large impact on Mel and there are times when lying Mel dislikes herself as she feels like she is like her mother in some way and that makes her want to vomit. She can’t stand looking at her eyes so she focuses elsewhere when looking in a mirror often ends up focusing on her hair due to that as it has better memories.

History: Growing up in Petalburg City at first her family life was happy and good. Her older brother was her hero and loved technology so she had a dream to work with him taking care of computers and dreamed herself to be a master hacker and programmer. But when she was almost 6 her mothers affair came to light and at seven there was a messy nasty divorce. Her older brother was much older then her, ten years in fact and he tried to shield her as much as he could often taking her out and making sure she was taken care of. Still when the divorce happened her brother got to choose to go with their dad and she was ordered by the judge to go live with her mother. Her mother wasn’t supposed to up and leave as she learned latter but it didn’t matter her mother up and took her to a different region and her life changed drastically. She lived in a run down apartment in that new location and watched with young eyes as her mother turned into a manipulative, abusive, alcoholic who drank all their funds away. With her mother drowning herself in drugs, drinking, and degenerate men. Mel turned to theft and doing pretty much anything she could to survive. She ended up joining a gang that ended up a more known criminal organization where her theift and criminal behavior continued. She had been in and out of juvenile detention many times. Pokemon centers, marts, homes didn’t matter she followed her orders and took whatever she could. She has stolen pokemon and equipment food, awards, vehicles but never could manage to abuse or hurt a person or pokemon. The idea makes her stomach turn and she can’t do it as she has flashbacks of her own mother beating and hurting her as a child. She had a cruel and creep of a team boss who made her life a nightmare as they didn’t get along after she refused to let him feed a caterpie she had at the time to his spearrow back when they were both grunts. During a mission a shop keeper they were stealing from arrived due to an alarm and Mel was told to beat the old man, she couldn’t do it and several members of the group had their faces seen and sketches were released to the public allowing the police in the city to get closer and it was only time before the group was caught so Mel was made into the fall person and got arrested while the group escaped. Her mother who was abusive found a new lover and left the region so Mel was left all alone in jail with no one she had to care for and steal for anymore and not a soul to care for her if she lived or died so she repented and gave up. The correctional officers there actually took pity on her as she wasn’t evil per say and helped her see she could go to a new place and start over and helped suggest the program to head to the island. She still isn’t sure if she deserves a new chance but is willing to try.

Have a favorite pokémon?: Bailey would never admit it, but she has a huge soft spot for canine pokemon. They’re just. Good. And sometimes they’re sad or afraid or angry but people love them and rehabilitate them and work with them anyway.
Remember any of their childhood dreams?: If asked this question, Bailey would deny remembering anything. In truth Bailey did have childhood dreams - only they’re not exactly kosher to current Bailey. Child!Bailey wanted to hurt the world, burn down the world. There’s a reason they joined Team Rocket, after all.
Have any ambitions for the future?: Bailey tries to take each day as it comes. Not to plan too far ahead and get too ambitious. But….well. She’d like to do something /good/. That’s why she’s here, taking this job that nobody wants, in a far off place where nobody will know Team Rocket Bail, and will just know. Bailey. Bailey’s not hoping for redemption, but they are hoping for a chance at amends. To change. To grow. All the things that once seemed impossible.

Have any phobias or irrational fears?: It’s not necessarily irrational, but it is a trigger of sorts - Bailey really, really doesn’t like high-alcohol or petroleum smells.

Have a secret food, toy, smell, or item that brings them comfort when they encounter it?:
Woodsmoke-scent. Pure woodsmoke that is, not tainted by the acrid smell of plastic or metal as it melts and burns.

Remember what drove them to crime or to join a Team?: Bail wanted the world to burn like he was burning. They were a petty arsonist by the time they set out on their pokemon journey, and it was a slippery slope then to bigger crimes, and operating under TR meant they….had more leeway. Had more resources. Had proper targets and plans and someone else to make the decisions all they had to do was make it burn.

Remember what made them realize they wanted out?: Here’s the thing - Bail might have wanted the world to burn, but he only ever targeted buildings. Not people. Oh occasionally someone got burned, but nobody….nobody got really hurt. Not seriously. And sure playing with fire is dangerous - Bail knew that, and Bailey knows it to her soul - but. There’s a difference between setting fire to warehouses, and planning to set fire to an office block /whilst people are in there/.

Flown on a plane or a large pokémon?: Bailey took a ship to get to this program, and besides that never really travelled outside Johto, so nope, not this one.
Ridden on a train?: Once when they were really young and travelling from Kanto to Johto.
Listened to an orchestral concert?: Only digitally, but boy oh boy does Bailey love orchestral music, so this is something they’d love to do.
Gone swimming in the ocean?: Yes. Johto has a lot of ocean to swim in, and whilst Bailey prefers lakes, the ocean is a good second. Even if you do have to wear goggles because of the salt.
Had a near death experience?: More than one, yes. Playing with fire is dangerous.
Had a significant other?: Bail was too damaged for that, and Bailey would….tentatively like one, but isn’t looking so much as if-it-happens. Better to be a good person yourself, first.
Lost a friend or loved one?: Her pokemon. Bailey knows that it was better for her to give her up, and that somewhere hopefully she’s living a better life with a good family. But it still hurts.

Known Criminal History:
Petty Theft ; Mostly as a youth, before joining TR. Lifting things they couldn’t afford and wanted, or needed and couldn’t afford. Of course the definition of needed/wanted is a fine line….
Arson ; The biggun and most of Bailey’s criminal history. A firestarter and pyromaniac both, Bailey was a serial arsonist.
Breaking and Entering ; Either to scope out, or as part of the arson and theft.
Assault ; Once. Not known by many.
Personality Overview: Bailey comes across very flat and reserved, almost anxious and controlled. They are a far cry from their past self, but you know what? They’re proud of that, and if you pay them some positive attention you’ll find that like a flower in sunlight they’ll turn towards you and you’ll have a loyal, steadfast friend who yes - is very anxious to do the right thing and be good - but is also down to throw down if it it’s the right thing. Someone who’s willing to put the work in and do the tough jobs - but also admit that they can’t do something. Honest to a fault, Bailey prefers direct communication, and can often come across as slightly rude. They’re still easily persuaded, and could be compared to a twice-kicked puppy in many ways. Except I guess in that metaphor they did the kicking themselves. The point is - energetic, hard-working, shy.
Something Positive: [/B]She’s proud of figuring herself out, of looking at herself and saying ; I need to change. And it’s hard work, changing yourself, but it’s been worth it - in every way. Bailey is proud of the work they put in, and continue to put in. (Hard-Working)
Something Negative: They still love fire, they still desire it, and sometimes when they’re building things from wood they think how well it would burn. But they have coping mechanisms other than burn it down now, and if it gets really bad they can ring their therapist. (Fire-Obsessed)
History: Despite hailing from Kanto, Bail was born in Johto and lived there till age 6. Her father was a stay-at-home dad. He took her camping a lot, and taught her all sorts of survival skills. She doesn’t really remember mom being around much until age five, when suddenly dad wasn’t around and they weren’t in the house with the big garden, but a flat in mid-city which she Hated, and then they moved to Johto and dad wasn’t coming back, and mom was a ghost - either at work or asleep. Ages six to eight Bail adapted to a new school and wasn’t having a good time, but at least she had her dad’s last present to her! Magby and her soon struck up a strong bond. Okay, maybe that bond was mostly about setting stuff on fire with her pokemon’s help but they never set anything big on fire. At least in the first year. The problem was as mom kept being never home - or when she was home, in a weird half-dazed, out-of-her-head-state that Bailey would later identify as drugged to the gills, and nobody really. It was very easy for Bailey to slip through the gaps, to stop going to school, to set more things on fire, to get arrested for theft when mom stopped making sure there was food in the house - and then to get persuaded to come to a campfire from one of guys in the holding cells, which then turned into joining up with his gang, which later turned into joining Team Rocket, which well.

We’re familiar with the story from there.

Eventually Bailey turns herself in when TR asks her to kill people.

Eventually she comes out the other side of court-ordered therapy.

Eventually, she ends up here, for the start of a new story…..

Aiding and abetting in holding hostages and using them for ransoms. (He was forced to keep watch of the Pokémon in cages.)
Took part in selling items at outrageously high prices. (I don’t know the actual term for this, but I know in the games Team Rocket sold Slowpoke tails for really high prices. Even chopping off their tails themselves.) He did not do the chopping, just the selling.

Personality Overview: Enzo is a soft spoken kid, quite the opposite of his loud and outgoing sister. He’s gentle and kind, but tends to keep to himself if he had his way. Some people see him as a sniveling baby because of his fear, but those who understand the reason behind it just see a scared boy who wants to do his best in the world but is hindered by a lot of the creatures in it.
Something Positive: He likes that he’s a pretty good listener. He may not always know the right things to say, or the things to do, but he’s always willing to lend a shoulder to cry on and an ear to hear people’s troubles.

Something Negative: Besides his fear. He actually hates how shy he is. He wished he was a lot braver, like his sister.
