Prompt 1: Spring is finally here! Well, for a corner of Everchange it's always spring, it always is, but Dream Valley goes through all the seasons, and spring has sprung!

Ponies everywhere are celebrating it in various ways. How does your pony celebrate it?

It was Spring, and there was a lot to do. Bright and early, where the sun had just started to rise over the horizon, Ignis was already getting a start on his day. He had to make sure he got a head start in growing crops for the first harvest of Spring, that he has enough to not only bring to market, but to bring to other towns as well. The first thing the large Unicorn does for the day, was check on the Goosers that have seemed to take a liking to his farm and make sure they weren’t causing any mischief – or stolen any items from any one nearby. When nothing seemed to be amiss and the flock hasn’t started any trouble, he could focus on his actual tasks that he had to perform. First off, reaching the plot of soil for his crops, Ignis grabs a hoe and starts to till squares where he was going to plant the seeds of this season: choosing to grow strawberries, cherries, avocados, peas, potatoes, and tomatoes this year.

As Ignis works on tilling the soil, his thoughts shift a little. Nothing bad, or even worrisome. Just curiosity of what his love, Melodi, was currently up to. He did leave her side rather early, and without a word from being one track minded in terms of getting his chores done. He paused in his work, digging the blade of his tool into the ground before turning toward the house they shared. Perhaps, I should go retrieve her so we can work together? Hmm… or maybe, go and ask if she would like any certain crops planted this year? He thought to himself, slowly shifting to turn and walk back towards the house.

Melodi was used to Ignis’ side of the bed being barren when she woke. He was a hard worker, and often one-track minded; if he had a goal, he was off to do it. It had never bothered her, or at least she couldn’t remember a time when it might have. Perhaps when they first moved in together? Aaah, maybe, but Melodi had a hard time parsing through the whirlwind that had been the beginning of their partnership, having been too busy being swept into the chaos of moving homes, relocating her small business, and also finding herself charmed by what she often joked was fire in a unicorn’s body. Now, when things had grown quieter, Melodi found herself seamlessly integrating into his routine, which meant many mornings waking alone while her partner tended to his chores.
She stretched, reaching out to splay an arm around the indent of his shape. The sun shimmered through their sheer curtains, greeting tired, half-lidded eyes with a slight burn. She turned, groaning as she pulled herself upright and out of bed, traveling to her dresser for her accessories. Yes, she woke alone for several reasons— he was a dutiful worker, but she was also not a morning person. She could try all she like, but by the time she usually roused would be the moment Ignis was already returning home. Which…
Ah, was that him outside the window? Melodi tucked her fur scarf neatly around her neck and approached the window, squinting against unforgiving beams of light as she pulled it open. “Ignis,” she called from the second story of their shared home. “You look handsome in the morning sun.” She flushed at her own compliment, pleased with herself. “I’ll come meet you!”
By the time he would enter the front door she would have trotted down the stairs and waited by the entryway, fondly smiling at her larger spouse. “Did I sleep in too late?”

If Ignis had to be honest, when his partner first moved in and he had tried to integrate her into his morning routine, he had thought that she was rather lazy when it proved to be such a struggle to get her going in the morning. Of course, over time he stopped having such thoughts as their relationship grew and he got to know Melodi better – and as he realized not everyone was like him. All things considering, he was still rather new to being in a relationships… or just being social in general. Ignis has always been so dedicate to his work, even at a young age, that he never made time to meet others besides those he worked or traded with. So, while awkward, it was a blessing in disguise when he had met his now partner some time ago. Now, he finds himself concerned about something other than himself or his work – from time to time at least.

This was one of those times. Normally, all his chores would be done before he headed back to the house, or half-way done at least. Today, Ignis barely even started his chores before he wanted to check on his partner. The trip back was slow, but he was getting there. Catching movement in one of the upper windows, he glances up in time to see the shades be pushed open and Melodi peek out – a small smile pulling at the corners of his lips from this. The compliment promptly hid that smile once more. Well, it wasn’t completely gone, just replaced by a shy and awkward expression. Still getting used to affection and such, but it was still nice to receive compliments – it made his heart dance happily.

Although he was told that she would meet him, he continued to the house and stepped in to welcome her with a light smile as she descended the stairs. “Did you sleep well?” His deep voice asks softly, walking over to greet her with a light bump of his snout to her temple. “It is still early. I just returned to ask if you would like to help, or if you had any suggestions of what crops to be grown for the spring?”

"I did," she affirmed with a nuzzle to his cheek in return, followed by a sleepy, soft yawn. "I dreamed about the hares eating our crops again," she giggled, eyes twinkling up towards him. She remembered last spring, when Ignis had returned home with heated cheeks and torn vegetable tops. The war between him and the hares was a recurring page in their story together, and one she found endearing.
"Mmmm, spring, already?" She glanced towards the door, back out to the warming light. She had felt the temperature warming for some time, but sometimes, when she found herself wrapped up in how tranquil and cozy her life had become, time felt like it was moving at a slow, languid roll. Spring was here, which meant fruit salads and berry pies, mornings out when the dew still clung to their garden, and nights when the brisk breeze fluttered her silk curtains. It was perhaps her favorite season, if she had to decide.
"I heard clover brings bees," she murmured softly, thinking of the articles she had read while trying to find her place on his farm. "Sunberries, too? Or is that for summer..." she trailed off, smiling sleepily up at her spouse. "I'd love to join you for the day, actually. I've been thinking about where I might be able to fit in more, with things. Maybe learn the land, and find a nook to raise bees?"
