Serenity Kalawai'a - 22 - She/Her - From Alola

Serenity is good at playing the harmless socialite role at any given time and moment, and sometimes it's true. She hams up the "dumb" and "cutesy" act to her advantage, especially when tied in with her main income, but underneath it all is someone who has worked incredibly hard to get where she is and is acutely aware of the kind of personality people want from her. She uses it to get what she wants in life and wiggle closer to those of power and fame to further her own image and passions in life. It's not that she isn't an extroverted and bubbly person, either, she just isn't as vapid and helpless as she portrays herself to be and wants you to think she is. Serenity absolutely loves her streaming and video business and often is filming what she's up to, almost always in front of a camera and performing.​

Three Strengths:

• Observant: While Serenity really plays up the unaware persona, she actually is at all times watching. She notices unusual and new situations and instances quickly and tends to scope out people, hiding away seen traits and behaviors for later. Additionally, she's great at realizing patterns and noting important clues. This has allowed her to strengthen her charm and also take charge of situations and opportunities.
• Empathetic: Understanding others is integral to keeping herself at the top. She can truly place herself in the shoes of others, but that doesn't mean she'll actually care. Her empathy helps her manipulate situations to her favor and play the right role in someone's life. It also helps her sway others to her point of view.
• Creative: While it's pretty obvious her creativity boosts her streaming and music careers, it also helps her find unique solutions to tough situations. Serenity can and will think outside of the box— there's always an answer to something!

Three Weaknesses:

• Spiteful: What did you just do? While Serenity will never drop the image and show her spite, she is prone to holding a grudge and slowly plucking away at someone who has wronged her. She'll remember forever, and she'll take every subtle opportunity to bring you down.
• Skewed Priorities: She will prioritize her career over herself, family, and friends. At the end of the day, she has to be able to support herself, and the only way to do that is to keep growing. She misses out on close connections, fun opportunities that do not benefit her career but would make her happy, and emotional growth.
• Emotionally Distant: While she has an easy time understanding others and where they come from, Serenity struggles to care. Her job has completely taken over and she's now always "on", stuck in a performative mode that'll boost her image and propel her further. She's good at acting, but Serenity is never truly honest with anyone. And honestly? She thinks everyone does the same, too, in a way.

Before Nauwill [0-22]:

Serenity Kalawai'a was born and raised by a very traditional and conservative family, and she hated it. Her future was already set out for her; she'd become a water trainer like her parents, finish the traditional trials of Alola, and spend her future helping preserve the island. Except, she didn't want to.​

​

As a small child she quickly realized that the key to getting what she wanted was to be liked by others. While she already was naturally a bubbly and charismatic soul, Serenity began to slowly create an outer shell to present herself as.​

​

She did well in school and began to pursue music, following after her late grandmother who had been a well-known singer. Her parents allowed her to take vocal lessons and encouraged what they believed was a harmless hobby, only to be disappointed when Serenity began to show interest in a musical career. When it came time to perform her trials, she opted to take the modern approach to get her license. Lastly, the final disappointment came when her first single was released and well-received, beginning Serenity's career at a very young age.​

Serenity left Alola to perform throughout the regions, releasing new music quickly and successfully. Addicted to the feeling of actually furthering her life all by her own means, Serenity also took up streaming her daily life. Her fans absolutely ate up the content.​

​

When she heard of Nauwill, she applied immediately. There came some issues and questions, but Serenity adhered to each rule placed on her. She could no longer live stream, but she could record her days and submit the recordings for review, where they'd be trimmed down and returned to her with clips she could legally use. Really, she didn't mind the rules— the fact she was approved at all was shocking enough, and she was going to definitely use it to her advantage. And Nauwill's, because contracts, but definitely herself, too. ​
