Spring is finally here! Well, for a corner of Everchange it's always spring, it always is, but Dream Valley goes through all the seasons, and spring has sprung!

Ponies everywhere are celebrating it in various ways. How does your pony celebrate it?

Loud laughing could be heard, what seemed like, miles away. It wasn’t long before the source of this laughter could be seen, as Arataki Itto came running down the street – two other ponies behind. There would have been three, but The Amazing Powerful Devastator was taking a quick nap. They would come back for him a little later.

For now though, the rest of the Arataki Gang was out and about trying to have fun. The largest of the three Onis was up ahead, chuckling like mad before finally stopping and turning to wait for the other two to catch up. “Man! Winter was cool and all, but I’m glad that Spring’s here. It’s going to be awesome!” Itto has a big goofy grin on his face, looking to his friends. “I have so many great things planned to do! There will be beetle battling, ramen eating competitions… no tofu, of course.” Said with a sage-like nod, as if expecting everyone to know this fact. He perks up suddenly when a thought hits him. “Oh! Oh! There can be some kinda sumo tournament too! See who’s the strongest!” He yelled excitedly, his tail lashing behind him before he adds, “even though, we all know that would be me. This will be so great! What do ya think boys? Sounds like a wicked awesome time to ya?” He asks, looking between his fellow Onis, Takuya and Susanagi – who looked, anything but, thrilled for the suggestions their friend had just listed to them.

A long, exasperated sigh escapes the lone blue Oni of the group as he followed after his boisterous friends. Takuya shook his head, not understanding where Itto got all this energy and bubbliness from. But, it was that energy and pure heart that reluctantly dragged him into a friendship with the loudmouth. Not that he’s complaining… now. Though he still doesn’t understand how it happened to this day, he honestly wouldn’t want to change it either.

Anyways, at the moment, Takuya was currently following after his friend – along with their other Oni friend. He knew that Itto had planned to disuss Spring, and what they could do for it. He also felt that some ideas would be wild, but he didn’t expect that the suggestions would be so… “out there”, to put it lightly. They definitely didn’t sound like the typical plans for Spring, that’s for sure. “Itto, we battle beetles almost every day. Knowing you, you probably forgot what happened the last time we had any sort of food eating competion…” Getting a clueless expression from the other Oni, he sighs, “we got sick, and couldn’t move for days… you especially since you didn’t realize yours still had tofu in it and you ate over forty bowls.” Takuya couldn’t help but shake his head at remembering that, and how he and Susanagi had to drag the passed out Itto to the nearest hospital. The fact that Itto seemed to have forgotten that, and is suggesting them do it all over again was short of amazing – sighing and looking over to Susanagi for their opinion of the matter.

Trailing further behind the other two, Susanagi trails after the other Onis – the massive tailmouth of theirs perched upon their back. They don’t know how they were dragged along with the other two, as someone should have stayed behind to watch Dev, but honestly… when it came to Itto, he needed to be supervised like a foal as well.

After finally catching up with Itto and Takuya, they listened as plans were suggested and counters were made against them. Susanagi didn’t really have an opinion for one side or the other, mostly around to help keep the peace. Being the deciding factor in this “debate”, that wasn’t going to happen. It would be easier to pull teeth from them, than it would be to get them to pick one side over the other. Their head looks back and forth, from Itto to Takuya as the two conversed with one another. For the most part, the large Ghoulie hybrid was silent while taking in both sides – there was a small smirk at Itto’s ‘Winter was cool’ comment, but then shaking their head at remembering the ramen incident. That definitely wasn’t as fun as when the competition first started. Honestly, the beetle battling was not a bad idea, but they did it almost every day just like Takuya brought up. Still, for Itto’s pride, it could be something the gang could do. The mention of a sumo tournament, Susanagi finally spoke up with a small snort. “I don’t think anyone would want to see any of us in a mawashi, Itto, especially my large self.” They protested, shaking their head vigorously… then adds. “But… I’m not against doing more beetle battling, at least.”

After hearing his buddies’ words, Itto gave them both a look of dejection – a pout on his face. “Maaaaaan… both of you are no fun. Besides, mares and/or stallions would stand in line for days just to see any of us like that.” As if magically, he pulls out a comb and deftly runs it through his silver mane a few times before putting it away with a flick of his wrist. “Also… like, what would you guys wanna do? I haven’t heard any suggestions from you, just you guys talking down my brilliant ideas.” He countered with a huff, his tail flicking in slight annoyance behind him while he looked between Takuya and Susanagi. He could not help but feel a little hurt that, those he thought were his friends, would totally shoot down all of his plans for Spring. Well, Susanagi did agree with the beetle battling, so it was not so bad. He had thought that there would be a little more enthusiasm than there was though… a smidgen, in the least. Then, there was the nerve to bring up a past mistake. “Man, Takuya. You act like I didn’t learn from the last time! I did say ‘no tofu’, didn’t I?! And that’s part of the fun of a food eating competition! Seeing just how much someone can stuff their face, without their stomachs exploding! Woohoo!” He howled out excitedly at the thought. “What else could there be to do anyways?” He lifts a hoof, cupping his chin in thought. “Hmm… we could also hold some sort of music festival, but what instrument should be the focus this time?”

Seeing and hearing Itto act like a foal who just got told ‘no’, Takuya just shook his head. What am I going to do with him? He asked himself, “Never said that they were completely terrible ideas, just not ones I would think of when it comes to welcoming Spring.” He said with a sigh, doing his best to comfort the over eager stallion that his suggestions were still valid… just not practical. At being asked if he had any plans that they could do, the blue Oni was silent for a moment – contemplating on what exactly they could do. Honestly, there wasn’t a lot that might pique Itto’s particular interests. . . this was going to be harder than he thought. Finally, with a sigh, he answers. “We can always go out and pick flowers to start a garden, we can do some cleaning around the base, or we can do more simpler activities.” He paused a bit, looking over at Itto and his questioning look. He was listening, but Takuya could tell that he wasn’t totally feeling it either – just like he originally thought. “You know, like hiking, bird watching… and as for a festivity, we can host… a… teeaa… parrrtyyy…” He sort of trailed off, because that wasn’t the strongest suggestion – and yeah, even to him that sounded kind of boring. It was something else that didn’t get them stared at, or worse, got them in trouble. Not really knowing what else to say, Takuya turned to look toward Susanagi in hopes they had some words to help back him up.
