Hello, and congratulations on finding your way to the Nightday Meta Information Thread! Whew, that's a long title, but it should answer a few of your questions! This thread will log Meta advancements, including where we are in the story, your next task, and updates on lore occurring. You'll also find a How to Play post, which should help you in figuring out the extent of this event and what you need to do to participate in it. ​

Of course, you probably have other questions, which we are happy to answer for you in #ask-staff on the Discord! You will find a F.A.Q thread in the Meta forum where you should check for any answers to questions that might already have been asked.​

And in the chances, the Meta isn't what you're looking for we also have a Halloween event! Move on over to the games forum to find it.​

How to Play:​

Playing is fairly easy! First, you will want to head on over to the Meta Profile thread (linked here) and grab yourself a form. This is where you'll log Specter Tickets, which are strange translucent papers your pony will find throughout the event (they're even cold to the touch, ew!). It also is where you show you're participating in the event, and show proof of posting. We need this proof and logging to include you in prizes that will be revealed at the end of the event. ​

Once you've filled out your Meta Profile you will return here and look at the posts. Every "stage" of the Meta will be logged here, with instructions on how to play. You'll see a "CLOSED" if the post no longer is active, so while you're welcomed to read older posts you shouldn't respond to them. ​

The most recent post in this thread will be the current stage we're at. If won't say "CLOSED" on it if it's currently ongoing, so that's the one you want to pay attention to! Fill out the instructions the post provides, and click any links it shows you. You'll want to keep up!​

Always log your responses to stages within your Meta Profile! You may RP in this forum if it's relevant to the Meta/responses to stages. You may RP with other users too! Just make sure you fit lore, don't assume what is happening in the event, and check out the current stage of the Meta. You can RP with any of your ponies, but only your Meta Pony (the one you used a Meta profile for) should respond directly to stages.​

This Meta does not currently have a set end date but will be going into November. Not every stage needs your participation. Required stages, ones where you MUST respond, will have end dates. We don't want to lock anyone out so those who miss those Important Stages still cannot participate as others did (losing out on Specter Tickets and any stage-specific prizes), but they will be able to fill out a Missed Stage form. You will see instructions on each Missed Stage form for required stages on their selective posts. ​

Stage One - CLOSED
Open until October 15th, 5pm EST​

The Haunted House attraction has been the center of attention since the minute the circus opened -- perhaps even earlier. The fliers delivered had mentioned the house as one of their selling points, bolded in dark black letters, and annunciated four times the size of the rest of the text. It wasn’t a surprise, really, as the sense of being pulled towards the haunted house was a feeling almost everyone shared. Ponies could swear something was about to happen there, they could “feel it in their bones”, as many claimed.​

The line snaking through the circus was restless, although well-fed and still eager. Some were coming back for a second or third round, insistent they’d get further than they had been prior. The premise of the house was a familiar one; try and get through the maze-like interior and reach the basement for a prize (which really just seems to be a voucher for free popcorn). Regardless of the prize, it seems ponies just want to enjoy the nature of the attraction.​

You are one of those ponies, having yet to see the interior but waiting near the front of the line. Ponies are let in within groups, warned to not touch the actors unless otherwise directed. Delighted shrieks can be heard within -- it seems the previous party is almost done! The door widens as an actor comes out, gesturing towards you and those who surround you.​

Haunted House​

How to Play​

• Click the link above and read the game information.
• You will participate in the CYOA game, using the Meta form as well within your posts.
• Only use the pony you selected for your Meta Profile in the game.
• Make a section in your Meta Profile called "Stage One". It can look how you want.
• Log within your Meta Profile under Stage One each response you make, and any Specter Tickets found.
• At the end of the game, you will be quoted about how it affects the Meta story. Return here for Stage Two.
• This is a required stage, and while there will be a Missed Stage form once this stage ends you will be unable to receive Specter Tickets that were released in this stage if you miss it. You will be required to fill out the Missed Stage form, if you miss it before you can continue the Meta.

Missed Stage Form​

For those who missed this stage they may, instead, link a small Solo RP with the pony they are using for the event, indicating what they did instead of the Haunted House. This Solo must be 250 words, minimum. Once completed, insert it into your Stage One post inside your Meta Profile. You will receive 1 Specter Ticket. Pls ping Nym when you complete your Solo.​

Stage Two - CLOSED
Open until October 30th, 5pm EST​

The Haunted House event has been swept under the rug by the circus, although everyone seems a bit on edge when answering questions. Alastor is also missing. The Haunted House has closed, much to the disappoint to many, and those within the house during the event have been handed several coupons for free foods and prizes. They also have been "reassured" it was all part of the experience, but..​

While the circus has attempted to keep the event silent it seems they've failed. Word has gotten out, and rumors have spread. Some say Alastor is dead, some claim a real ghost was living with the house, and others have spun even wilder tales. The circus is attempting to ignore such rumors, but as the days drag on more ponies arrive, hoping to find an answer.​

With those ponies also arrives four of the Unicorn Council members, one from each seasonal kingdom. Covered in cloaks with only their seasonal symbol adorning it, they keep their faces hidden as they enter the Haunted House. They come and go, the only ponies seen around the house. ​

​

Now the question is.... what does your pony think? How are they recovering from the event? Or are they excited? Are they contributing to the rumors? ​

How to Play​

• Post a Solo RP in Meta Adventures, labeled [MRP].
• This RP should be at minimum 500 words and describe their feelings on the experience.
• Post the RP in your Meta Profile. You will be quoted with your Specter Ticket at the end.
• Your first Solo nets you +5 Specter Tickets. You can also submit two RPs, with a minimum of 3 posts for all owners involved, for both owners to receive +3 Specter Tickets. The RP must be complete by the end of this stage. The RP should focus on the events within the house or about the circus, whether it be discussing the Haunted House or just exploring the circus.
• All Meta RPs should be posted in Meta Adventures.
• Each user can only log 1 Solo and 2 RPs for points, although you may help another user reach their 2 RPs.
• Log within your Meta Profile under Stage One each response you make, and any Specter Tickets given.
• At the end of the stage another stage will be released. Return here for Stage Three.
• This is a required stage, and while there will be a Missed Stage form once this stage ends you will be unable to receive Specter Tickets that were released in this stage if you miss it. You will be required to fill out the Missed Stage form, if you miss it before you can continue the Meta.

Missed Stage Form​

Your character either missed the rumors or just wasn't around the circus during these times. That's fine! Create a thread within Meta Adventures called [Username] Missed the Rumors (inserting your own username) and RNG 1-3. Locate one of the three situations below and, in a minimum of 150 words, have your pony RP a response. Ping Nym once you've completed your task. You will receive 1 Specter Ticket.​

1. Your pony was approached during their most recent entry into the circus by a child. She asks you if she should go for the red balloon or green. She doesn't say where to obtain one or any further instructions. Once you give her an answer she smiles, slapping a deflated balloon of that color into your hooves/hands and fleeing.
2. You swear as you passed the Haunted House you saw a flash behind one of the windows! Someone else next to you you did, too, and tries to ask you what you think it is.
3. You see a stall for popcorn but notice the popcorn itself comes in many different colors. What color do you pick? Someone approaches, asking to try yours! How do you respond?

Stage Three
Open until November 14th, 5pm EST​

Days have passed with no news, although a few ponies have attempted to force results of their own! None were successful, unfortunately, as it seemed information would come when it was ready. And boy... did it arrive. Two weeks passed -- two long weeks where the circus pretended everything was fine. Maybe it was enough to convince a few victims of the house to believe what happened was fake, but for some, it only urged that desire to understand. Alastor remained unseen, but some members of the circus would enter the house, alongside the strange hooded figures. Then, suddenly, on the 15th night, the circus came to a grinding halt. No one was allowed entry. None except the workers and....​

The Four Queens.​

They had arrived that night, ignoring the squeals and screes of their people, although Spring and Summer offered waves and a smile. Winter held her usual disinterested gaze, and Fall yawned behind the other three as they entered the circus grounds. That night many a pony lurked around the circus grounds, eager to hear more, but only a select few would find a letter in their possession that morning.....​

• At the end of the stage another stage will be released. Return here for Stage Four.
• This is a required stage, and while there will be a Missed Stage form once this stage ends you will be unable to receive Specter Tickets that were released in this stage if you miss it. You will be required to fill out the Missed Stage form, if you miss it before you can continue the Meta.

Post a solo within the Meta Forum of your pony accepting or declining the offer. It must be, at minimum, 100 words. Once done you may continue to Stage Four.​

The group is now within Below, with two bickering guides.... Abe seems slightly lost, but he's confident it'll be okay! It's time to document what one can about your surroundings and find the rulers (if possible). Solstice and Abe seem too busy chattering to speak to, but they keep a watchful eye on the group.​

• Abe and Solstice are unable to be interacted with currently (unless otherwise said so). They're busy!
• Log within your Meta Profile under Stage Four your actions, and any Specter Tickets given.
• At the end of the stage another stage will be released. Return here for Stage Five.
• This is not a required stage, but can provide rewards!
