Unlike Fairlight Co., URA is not selective about those from whom it gathers data; so long as it is well documented, they will accept reports from just about anyone on the island. Of course, there are people in place whose entire job it is to sort through data that aren't well crafted, but the experiences documented by the inhabitants often hold secrets even if their methodology isn't always the best.

To this end, the URA posts what it's currently studying on a board at the front of its research facility; it also makes this information available on the Doveport Intranet for maximum ease of access. Submissions are collected at the front desk of the building, and trainers are credited immediately upon turning something in. If a trainer completes an entire task's worth of assignments, they may even be eligible for a special reward!

While they prefer data on current topics, they typically will accept old assignments, simply because one can never have too many data points. However, old points of study will only earn half as much credit as they originally would have.

In short:
  • Each character may do as many assignments per task as they wish, across different threads.
  • A character may do as many options per assignment as they wish, across different threads.
  • Research options per thread must be chosen from the same assignment. You can't pick option 1 from assignment 1 and option 3 from assignment 2!
  • Doing all assignments in a task will get you +5 credits as a bonus. Track proof of this as we won't be!
    • This credit can be gained regardless of solo/multiplayer version of assignment done and can only be collected once.
  • A character will get credits regardless of how 'well' they do.
  • An assignment counts as old or new based on when it's turned in, not when it's started. If it's listed under "Old Projects", then you will only get half credit for completion.
  • A warning will be given at least one week before a project goes old, so you are able to complete them on time!

Current Project
Task: #01 - Meet the Locals
Progress: 2/6 assignments completed fully

With their feet barely on Nauwillian soil, the scientists have already discovered new variants and new species of pokémon! While three of the species were only found once each so far - the Nauwillian torchic, totodile, and bulbasaur - they have quite comfortably adapted to life with humans, enough that they've quite handily begun producing eggs, which in turn have made a great asset for settlers while their pokémon are quarantined and investigated for disease. As for the others, they seem to be found in large numbers not too far beyond the city's borders - indeed, Doveport is, per the URA's complaints, actually pushing them out of a section of their own habitat! While that is something they would have preferred to avoid, it doesn't make the study of these new findings any less enticing.

Assignment 1: Study a Nauwillian Bulbasaur || 3/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a Nauwillian bulbasaur.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... that while they definitely seem to soak up sunlight like plants, they also enjoy chowing down on meats and berries as well!
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... that this bulbasaur's antennae are its only sense of smell, and its nose is adapted only for breathing.

OR

... that this bulbasaur's bulb produces a thick, fuzzy down which it can puff out at attackers to help it escape.
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... that these pokémon are quite docile, even with different personalities, and seem surprisingly happy to be around other species.
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... that these pokémon drink extremely large amounts of water, but only rarely. Perhaps they store it in their bulb?

Assignment 2: Study a Nauwillian Totodile || 2/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a Nauwillian totodile.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... that these pokémon seem disinterested in plants or berries, and they're very fond of meat that they can rip and tear from bones.
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... that these creatures seem to be more comfortable walking on all four limbs, even though they can walk on their hind legs like typical totodiles.
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... that they seem to be rather playful, with even the calmest ones still enjoying a playful tussle. They don't seem to be aware of their own strength, though!
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... this pokémon gets extremely lazy as the sun goes down, perhaps due to their reptilian nature. They eagerly cuddle up to warm surfaces!

OR

... this pokémon is extremely territorial, and even a good natured one doesn't seem to back down from protecting something that they think belongs to them.

Assignment 3: Study a Nauwillian Torchic || 3/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a Nauwillian torchic.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... torchics seem happy to eat most things, but it seems that seedy berries are its favored diet.
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... despite having an organ to generate fire, this pokémon's skin actually generates a tiny amount of ice under its down constantly, causing the cooling effect of its fluff!
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... these pokémon are extremely high energy, and they require a good amount of stimulation to keep them happy. They get bored quickly.
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... that if a Nauwillian torchic gets too hot, it will purposefully generate a larger amount of frost which it traps in its fluff, letting it cool down quickly.

OR

... this pokémon likes to dig shallow burrows in the ground, just big enough for it to fit comfortably in. This is its preferred sort of nest.

Assignment 4: Study a Nauwillian Scatterbug || 4/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a Nauwillian scatterbug.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... this pokémon's favorite food is eggs. It will eat flora if none are available, but it shuns all other foods over these!
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... this pokémon is incapable of producing the characteristic dusts and powders of its distant cousins. The ruff around its neck is actually just bristly fur!
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... these pokémon are extremely food driven, and they can be driven to aggression very easily over it. No matter the nature, their priority always seems to be on how to stuff more food in their faces.
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... that their primary means of defense seems to be surprise aggression. They seem to be able to flex roughly and fling themselves several feet in the air with ease, and often do so directly at another's face!

Assignment 5: Study a Nauwillian Weedle || 0/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a Nauwillian weedle.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... these pokémon will eat any and all plant matter - even tree bark - if given a chance. They seem to be able to eat up to their full body weight in a single sitting!
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... that weedle's tail often moves on its own, even when it's asleep. The movement eerily resembles the motions of a head looking around, complete with random pauses and tilts.
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... that it's very difficult to ascertain how Nauwillian weedles behave around others as they spend the majority of their time simply sleeping or eating.
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... that a weedle which feels highly threatened instinctively waves its tail at its enemy. Turns out, they can safely detach the marked section of their tail, letting them scurry away safely!

Assignment 6: Study a Lefmew || 4/4 options explored
Requirements: One trainer present must have a lefmew.

Roll options (pick and roll two!):
Study FocusStat to RollDifficultyOn success, you find...
DietIns + Nature2... that these pokémon don't seem to eat anything, instead only drinking water. They spend a lot of time in the sun, however, likely photosynthesizing.
Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... these pokémon are mostly fluffy fur! Its body underneath the puff is quite small and light - enough that they can float on a good breeze with just a few flaps of their leaves!
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... these pokémon are highly sociable and drawn to others, even other species. No matter their nature, they are most comfortable when around other creatures.
Notable BehaviorsClever + Alert3... that lefmews like to bury their body in the soil to escape the heat. The dirt helps them cool off, and the position lets them camouflage as a plant in order to photosynthesize safely.

Emergency Mobilization!
Task: #M01 - The Traveling Tempest's Tumultuous Terror!
Progress: 0/1 assignments completed fully

Doveport is on lockdown, and no one is allowed to leave or enter the city. Why? A terrible storm has rolled in impossibly fast, and the whole place is surrounded by a bubble comprising of Barriers and Light Screens from over a hundred dedicated pokémon. Yet, despite the assurances coming from Fairlight Company that the whole event will be over quite quickly and there's nothing to be worried about, something seems ... off. The air itself is charged with electricity, and for a simple ocean squall the whole of the sky is certainly completely dark save for the crackling of intricate patterns of lightning rolling through them.

Though many stay inside during the first few hours of the event, the restless and curious come out when it fails to pass quickly. Some go about their business, trying to keep themselves entertained or simply continuing their training as best they can. Others spend a little spend a little extra time observing nature's rage pouring around them...

Group Assignment: What's going on with that storm? || 6/10 options explored
Requirements: 2-4 players. Group project rules. If you encounter a ??? on passing a Study Focus, drop your link into #help-me to get your result!

9Whenever a patch in the storm seems to start to fade, it quickly whips up into a new one. Sometimes you can see the funnels of tornadoes spinning up in the dense tempest, but thankfully the tireless efforts of the barrier squad seem to hold them at bay, for now.

7Though they're not speaking out loud, you can tell that the barrier squad are nervous about the storm; this seems a bit odd, as you were told they were trained for the job in the community chat. The abras in particular seem jumpy, with several of them teleporting a distance away after especially loud peals from beyond the bubble.

9Despite being native to the area and likely accustomed to the storms that come with living near the sea, the pokémon residents of Doveport that were caught nearby are still quite agitated. Even typically calm specimens are feeling skittish of the weather.

9It looks like the barriers aren't entirely perfect. Near the edges of the bubble, electric scorch marks run through the ground towards the town. While the grass directly on top of the strange marks smells and looks burnt, the foliage around them is notably thicker than further away.
