History: Saltwater Taffy has gone by many names in her years, this one is just the one that's appealed to her the longest. She'd never admit this to anyone, but her original name was
Zephanie Stormswirl, and her parents were woefully unprepared for the reality of a hybrid daughter. Yes, they'd adapted to having two sets of twins that had one race from each... But a kitsune pegasus
mixture?
As far as they were concerned, little Zephanie was
unnatural and they made it abundantly clear that she was. Her siblings while she was being raised at home went along with their parents for the most part, mostly out of fear of retribution, and helped contribute to keeping her out of the eyes of society. She wasn't allowed to leave the house without wearing something that bound her wings to her sides and a cloak over her back so she would blend in with her Kitsune siblings. All of her social interactions were supervised and she wasn't allowed to stay after school for any activities for fear that her
unnatural appearance would be discovered.
The day she snapped was during an outing with one of her older Kitsune siblings. It was supposed to be a quick trip out for groceries and Zephanie kept herself covered as she was told, and while her sibling had their back turned to her, Zephanie noticed another family at a stall across the way.
A family with pair of happy, unbound Kitsune/Pegasus foals.
Zephanie couldn't stop herself from marching across the market and asking why they didn't bind their children's wings like her parents did.
Weren't they ashamed of their children's unnatural appearance, too? The appalled looks on the couple's faces burned
deep into Zephanie's mind, and when she returned home, having been dragged home by her thoroughly embarrassed sibling, she tore her cloak off and ripped the binding off of her wings. Her parents raised hell against her and told her that they would disown her if she left the house without her coverings. Without the support of her siblings and the memory of that happy family armoring her steps, Zephanie held her head up high and strided right out of town.
Now, armed with her
fifth new identity and that all too familiar need to fly the coop bearing down upon her again,
Saltwater Taffy is debating whether or not to give into temptation and split or dig her heels in and keep working. After all, the job she has supports her like a glove and leaving town just because she's bored isn't feeling as valid as it used to. But, really, it's not like anyone she knows is gonna find her here, right? She's never committed a crime, just told some
little white lies. Who could blame her with the way she was raised? Maybe she could afford to stick around a little longer until she can afford that new dress.
Parents: Estranged; NPCs
Siblings/Family: All older; Two pegasai and two kitsune; Estranged, but may talk to them if they... Manage to find her.
Children: None; Surprises...
May be tolerated.
Occupation: Cake decorator and caterer for a popular bakery. She isn't entirely happy with her job and would like to find an excuse to leave town at some point due to the heavy commitment the job entails, but it's something that earns her the money she needs to support her lavish lifestyle.
Pets: Blue Raspberry
Raspie, as he's affectionately called, was found sleeping behind the ovens in Taffy's workplace one morning and, for whatever reason, decided he like Taffy best out of all of the other employees. Taffy's absolutely certain it's got nothing to do with all the bits of candy she slips him through the day and maintains that he simply loved her from the moment she found him. Regardless, Raspie is very loyal to Taffy and follows her to and from the shop every single day.
