History: Born the third child of a very secluded Ghoulie family, Phoenix Down grew up with tales of all the horrible things that the world could do to them if they dared venture away from the swamp where they were born. Stories of burning stakes, evil butterfly-winged ponies, and the pointed foreheads of their allies. Young Phoenix Down diligently obeyed their parents and stayed close to their home, helping tend to the murky vegetation and waters surrounding their house. It was a dull existence, but a comfortable one, and Phoenix Down was sure that nothing close to what their parents described would ever find them.

That was, until a captivating butterfly-winged stranger entered into their life while their parents were away.

The Pixie, as Phoenix would learn they were, was seriously injured after encountering a beast somewhere in the swamp and was in desperate need of healing. Despite the warnings of their older brothers, Phoenix carried the Pixie into the backyard shed and worked through the night to tend to the Pixie. It took a considerable amount of time and effort, but after two long weeks, the Pixie regained their strength and was able to fly themselves back home. Phoenix, pleased that their hard work had paid off and, the terrible tales their parents had told them seemingly disproved, considered leaving the swamp for the first time in their life.

Then, came the pair of baskets left at their doorstep. It was clear as day to Phoenix that they belonged to them, the children were as rainbow as could be, but... They both had a pair of beautiful, shimmering, Pixie wings. Phoenix's parents were both home by the time they arrived and, while they tried to beg them for forgiveness, their parents demanded that Phoenix leave and take their evil signs of betrayal with them.

Phoenix raised those babies with as much love as their heart could muster. Yes, their children were pixies and pretty much every Ghoulie they encountered couldn't help but comment on that fact, but Phoenix would never let anyone tell their babies that they were anything less than beautiful miracles. Without them in their life, they never would have left the swamp and found the rest of society, and while that was certainly a mixed bag of blessings, they'd never have it any other way. Their babies grew up knowing what the world was really like and that what happened in the past could always change.

In more recent years, Phoenix has celebrated becoming a grandparent to a very interesting trio of children. Fairy Ring, the child who was most like they were in personality, having children with a hybrid and an Alicorn? Well, bless their soul! How their parents would have stomped and howled if they'd been around for that! ... And how wonderful it was that they weren't. Phoenix has made every effort to try and get acquainted with the family that, unwittingly, became part of their life and genuinely adores their grandchildren. Did you know that the youngest, Fia, is mastering all her spells and could be a professor any day now? No? Well, sit right down and let them gloat all about it!

Chime and Charm came as an odd bonded pair that Phoenix adopted from a local animal shelter once their children had grown up. Their previous owners could no longer take care of them and Phoenix, finding their coloration to be a sign that they absolutely had to come home with them, eagerly took them home as their new "babies."

Chime likes seeds, fruit, and to roost on top of Phoenix's tail, while Charm prefers to be left to her own routine and sleeps most of the day away by the front window. They both enjoy sitting with Phoenix while they knit and love greeting visitors, espescially if they're relatives.

History: Fairy Ring has never once thought of their family as strange. Sure, their Oma is a Ghoulie and their other parent a mystery outside of being a Pixie, but what difference did that make when they grew up surrounded by love? Prying eyes and nasty tongues couldn't pierce through the thick layers of fluff and fur that their Oma wrapped them in no matter how much they tried, and the world was not only painted with every color possible, but given to them in many shades of gray. What had happened in the past was in the past, and their family was proof of that change.

Thus, this acceptance of the world as it was and bounty of love given to them was no doubt the reason why the blend was allowed to increase. Three children, all very unique in nature, came into Fairy Ring's life shortly after they moved out of the house. The two other parents, one a hybrid and the other an alicorn no less, were just as much of a shock... But their children were no less wanted. In fact, despite none of the parents wanting to remain together, they all agreed that the children deserved to know each other. Frequent playdates were arranged, often with Oma Phoenix present and adoring, and Fairy Ring's children, too, grew up knowing they were loved beyond belief.

Now, having watched their children grow up and seeing their youngest, Fia, achieve her goals... Fairy Ring is uncertain of where their future lies. Do they want a life partner? Perhaps more children? Or do they want to explore the world, maybe even seek out more about themselves and where their parents might have come from? Only time can tell.

History: Born as the second born son to a very wealthy pegasus couple, Moonraker spent much of his early life traveling around all of Everchange while his parents did business and watched his older brother's star rise as a talented actor. His parents really didn't have a lot of time for him, with all of their focus being either on a bottom line or on the success of his brother, but they tried to make up for that lack of attention with lots and lots of expensive gifts and a heavy monthly allowance that he could spend on whatever he wanted.

At first, Moonraker did what any foal with a near-unlimited amount of money at their disposal would do- He spent it all of toys, games, and candy. However, the hard learned lessons of over-eating sweets and regret soon had him considering what he really wanted. He was lonely without his family and genuinely wanted them to be with him... But when he'd expressed that need to them, they'd surprised him with a kitten and told him to be good for his nanny while they were gone. He'd always wanted a Maow, and he'd forfeit every worldly possession he had to ensure Sand Dollar stayed with him now, but the gesture still felt like his words had fallen on deaf ears.

After years and several more attempts at getting his family to listen to him, he threw in the towel and wrote them a letter. He told his family that he'd fallen in love with the shorelines of Summer's Touch and had already secured the deed to a bar that he was going to tend, manage, and live in for the rest of his days. He'd studied under a famous bartender under their nose and felt that it was time he stopped following them around and moved on with his life. He'd be fine, they could keep traveling with his brother and he'd come out to see them when they weren't busy. He'd wrote these things bitterly and left thinking that he'd see them in a year, maybe for the first winter holiday, if they still wanted to see him after reading the letter, that is.

Instead, all three off them showed up at his grand-opening. Due to his family's social accounts and the near-cult following his brother had in terms of popularity, the bar was at capacity in the first hour and Moonraker had to send someone to buy more supplies at least six times. While he was grateful for the instant notoriety that this brought, the sheer amount of orders had given him so much stress that he had nearly passed out at closing time. However, when he turned to confront his family for showing up unannounced and creating this whirlwind, he found them busy picking trash up off the floor and his brother, of all ponies, cleaning the bar! Bewildered and exhausted, all Moonraker could do was sit down and cry.

After a rather emotional heart to heart where Moonraker finally felt that his voice was heard, the family sat down and worked on a way to change things. Moonraker was assured that he was treasured and that he could still follow his dreams to live in Summer's Touch if that's what he wanted, but his letter had been a proper knock to the head. In fact, everything business or work related had been paused just so they could try to make things right. They didn't want Moonraker to disappear from their lives because they simply didn't make time for him and they were sorry for trying to make up for that with money and gifts instead of giving him the love and attention he needed. Though Moonraker felt a twinge of guilt that they'd dropped everything for him, hearing them saying this was cathartic... But saying it was one thing, following through was another. He made it clear to them that he'd need them to be honest and actually make good on their promises to change for him to believe them. Regardless, he still loved them, and wanted to make that just as clear.

It took time and patience, but several years later, Moonraker can honestly say that his family has made good on their promises. His parents stop by at least three times a month, more if they're working in the area, just to spend quality time with him or hang around the bar. They take him shopping, to the movies, and give him bear hugs. His brother's career still keeps him the busiest, but now his visits come with a husband and adorable nieces that Moonraker absolutely adores. There are still months out of the year where he doesn't see them, but now they take turns calling each other and spend that time catching up, moaning about the day's events, and making plans for the next family trip. It's as close to a perfect situation that Moonraker can get, and one that he knows his younger self would have been thrilled to have.

Everyone is carded by him before they're even allowed to breathe near the alcohol and every single glass in the bar was bought by him with a special enchantment that makes the glass turn solid black if the drink has been tampered with in any way. No underage ponies or scumbags get to skirt under the radar, not in his bar!
Pets: Sand Dollar
Given to him as a gift from his parents as a foal and cherished from day one, Sand Dollar is one prim, posh, and spoiled kitty. She's given only the finest filtered spring water to drink, wet food prepared and delivered the same day, and trips to the groomer are twice a week, at the very least. She knows exactly who she belongs to and shows little interest in the "lesser" cats that sees outside of her seaside window. She doesn't mind the noise of the bar and is often friendly, if not outright affectionate with most of the ponies who come through its doors. However, the second her "daddy" doesn't like someone being at his bar, she's just as quick to puff herself up, draw her well-manicured claws, and make sure the offender sees themselves out.

History: As the second born child of a pair of hard-working jewelers that met at a craft fair, Kaurie has always felt the need to work hard and remain positive in order to achieve her goals in life. Early on in life, along with her beloved cousin, Soleil, Kaurie set her sights on the beach front as her metaphorical oyster and dug her hooves into the sand until her parents would allow them to open a stand on their own without any adult supervision. Though it wasn't easy at the start to gather all the materials on her own, she had Soleil there to help her sort everything out and draw up a plan whenever she got back, and having the support of her cousin was all she needed to have the drive, and will, to succeed.

Kaurie's niche in the business lies primarily in material scavenging these days. She leaves early in the morning and travels the whole beach over, looking for shells, beach glass, and any other interesting fragment she can find laying around for her to take. There are days where the cousins switch roles and she's behind the counter braiding a bracelet for a tourist or sanding a piece of driftwood down to make a set of rings while Soleil goes hunting, and both cousins have are in equal demand for their specific crafts. However, lately, Kaurie and Soleil haven't been seeing eye to eye on exactly where the shop should continue to stand. Sure, their humble stand has seen better days and could use a firmer foundation, but it's where they've been for years now! Why should they move closer to the town when they've already got such a good thing going?

Cinnabar is Kaurie's little right hoof helper and most loyal companion! They're the perfect size to crawl into the tightest spots in a cavern and have found some of the most beautiful treasures that the shop has ever seen. Like Kaurie, Cinnabar hates seaweed and loves kicking back and relaxing with a nice piece of mango after a hard day's work, but wouldn't mind having a business partner of his own to work with. A bug his size can only carry so much treasure back to camp on his own!

History: Abandoned at an orphanage while still in baskets in Harvest Town, Belladonna and her twin sister, Bellatrix, never learned who their parents were. Belladonna, being the meeker of the two fillies, allowed Bellatrix to take leadership in their lives and relied heavily on her for a sense of direction. Together, along with influence from others in town, Belladonna and Bellatrix the pair grew to love farming, fresh produce, and dreamed of opening their own grocery store together when they were older.

That was the plan at least until Bellatrix decided to pack her bags and leave for, in her own words, "greener pastures". Belladonna had no time to process what was happening as her sister quite literally walked out of her life and, reasonably, fell into a prolonged period of depression. What was she supposed to do without her sister? They did everything together, from clothes shopping to business planning, what had made Bellatrix suddenly change her mind? How was she supposed to know what to do or where to go next? Bellatrix knew everything and Belladonna... She just didn't.

It was a long time before Belladonna showed her face in town. Her neighbors, being the wonderful, social ponies that they were, had tried to get her to leave for months with promises of fresh baked apple crumble, mulled cider, and sunflowers galore... But her hooves just wouldn't budge. It was the orphanage director, a large, stern, but abundantly compassionate mare who managed to burst through Belladonna's front door and finally get to the bottom of what was going on. She admonished Belladonna for making them worry, but completely understood why she'd become so depressed. After being abandoned once as a day old foal, how could Belladonna not feel distraught over being left by the only family she's ever known? However, she assured Belladonna that despite her sister leaving, she still had an entire town full of people who loved her and wanted her to be a part of their world. Even if she was still grieving and afraid, Belladonna wouldn't be shamed for expressing her very real and true feelings. Everyone in town wanted to help in any way they could, and all Belladonna had to do was ask.

With help from everyone in Harvest Town, Belladonna slowly grew in confidence in her abilities on her own and turned her attention to forming a dream that was all her own. She'd grown to love farming, baking, and creating handmade goods, but with Harvest Town and Bone Town being hot spots for all of those things, she was only going to be another face amongst the crowd. So, with the support of all her new friends and found family, she set her sights on Dream Valley and settled down in Moonlight Fields. There was something about how the flowers there glowed at night that made Belladonna feel at peace, like everything was going to be alright. Soon after moving in, she set about plans to start her farm-stand and get the word out, before immediately enduring her first ever winter. With that frigid start and a renewed spirit come spring, she brought out her first homegrown produce and fresh baked treats and watched her new life blossom into view.

There, she's opened up her own farm-stand where she specializes in homegrown produce, pies, and other fresh baked goods. Her stand is moderately popular, especially in the summer and autumn months, and she makes just enough to keep her modest lifestyle afloat. She is, however, open to collaboration with other local farmers and artisans and has a new dream, to start a weekly farmer's market.

She considers her eldest sibling her "parent" and, despite the struggles they faced together, managed to grow up to be a happy, well-rounded individual. Sure, sometimes all they had to eat was toast, cinnamon, and butter... But there was no shortage of love and support when she needed it! That was all that really mattered in life, after all.

After moving out and getting her first job as a make-up artist, All Star fell head-over-hooves for a drop-dead gorgeous dragon pony she saw in town one day. Following this handsome pony into a local bookshop, she just so happened to lose her footing and-WHOOPS! Knocked right into the poor dragon! Well, now she just HAD to apologize by buying him a drink, and maybe lunch? It was the least she could do after he dropped all his books!

Luckily, her little plan turned out to be the greatest decision she'd ever made. Now happily settled at home with her mate and their two beautiful children, All Star is certain that her life is set. History: Signe and her sister Tori were found tucked safely in their baskets just outside the gates of an Everville orphanage one morning with no note or trace of where they'd come from. It was clear from the start that Skuld differed from her sister, however, and as soon as she was brought through the doors of the orphanage... Things started to go awry.

First it was five spilled cartons of milk, then it was the incident with the laundry baskets and the finger paint, then the day she managed to get every single kite string at the fair tangled up in her wings. All of the adults knew that Skuld never meant to get herself into any of the problems she caused, but that didn't save the poor budding Alicorn from earning the ire of her peers and the stares of ponies in the neighborhood. The older she got, the more odd and complex the situations got for Skuld, and as soon as she displayed that she had any semblance of being able to care for herself properly, the orphanage sent her on her way.

Skuld started her adult life hiding out in a local cave system and keeping in touch with her sister through letters. Having grown up with the knowledge that she couldn't control what happened to her and the fact that a lot of others would hate her for it no matter what didn't give her the same social footing as other ponies. She was reclusive, shy, and stayed as far away as she could from others just in case she accidentally harmed someone. She found her cat, Ashepaw, during this time and both of them did the best they could to survive in the caves.

Her reintroduction into society came in the form of what could have been a tragedy. The orphanage she and her sister had been brought up in had caught on fire and, having sensed that the cause was an accident, Skuld crashed in through the ceiling and was able to rescue everyone inside. Once the blaze was put out and everyone was accounted for, Skuld gave the orphanage her personal blessing of protection and swore to watch over everyone there. This resulted in her being published in a local newspaper as a hero and the, embarrassing, discovery that she'd been living in a cave with her cat was brought to light. She decided to retreat again, but stayed close to town just in case the orphanage faced trouble again.

Now-a-days, Skuld has landed herself in a rather surprising, but permanent relationship with another Alicorn named Leian. After the discovery that they'd been blessed with a pair of baskets, Leian offered Skuld a place to live in his house so they could raise the children together. Leian's lifestyle, being the Alicorn of Luxury, was a stark contrast from the meager country style life she'd previously been living in, and... Well, it's safe to say that Skuld has broken everything in that fancy house at least once. Despite the messes, though, she can honestly say that she's overjoyed to have a roof over her head, a lover who seems to genuinely care for her, and a pair of beautiful children. She still keeps in contact with Tori and visits her whenever possible, but her time is mostly spent fixing things she's broken and watching over her children. She's proud to report that her clumsiness doesn't seem to be genetic!

History: Born into a unconventionally massive Ghoulie family, Strawberry Milk was raised to believe that no matter what happened, she and all of her siblings were cherished blessings and told to spread their metaphorical wings as far as they could. Heck, her parents even helped inspire her first boba tea recipe, the Strawberry Milk Special!

History: Ube was born the only child to a pair of Ghoulies who would have liked to have lived a quiet life, had they not moved in next to the biggest Ghoulie family that Everchange had ever seen. Despite being cautioned his whole life not to impose himself on a family that already had so many mouths to feed, Ube found himself being added to the brood as though he'd always been there, and his parents soon had to accept that they, too, would have to participate if they ever wanted to know just who their son would be hanging out with. Luckily for them, only one particular child from that massive family "imprinted" on little Ube, a dazzlingly pink girl called Strawberry Milk.

Through Strawberry Milk's influence, Ube developed a love of baking and did the best he could to show his parents that his passion could be a success somewhere out there in the world. Unfortunately, no matter how many cupcakes he frosted to perfection or cookies he offered, his parents were apprehensive about letting their precious baby leave the nest. In the end, the decision to leave fell entirely to Ube and, without the support of his parents, the young ghoulie followed his best friend to Everville with nothing but their hopes and dreams to guide them.

The first year proved to be far more difficult as the weather grew colder. Two spring-born ghoulies just couldn't cut it with the changing weather, and as the first winter storm came crashing down upon them, it seemed like the shop would be closing before it's first anniversary. Help came gliding in as the storm grounded a winter-born Pegasus named Peppermint Mocha and forced him to seek the shop as temporary shelter. The trio formed a friendship that night that later turned into a full on contract, and with the addition of another winter co-owner called Boba Belle, the shop has gone from a two-season pop up to a year round staple in town.

History: As the middle child of a large pegasus family that specializes in all things culinary and pastry, Peppermint Mocha tried his best to leave an impression that would last in the ever-changing casting mold that his family was. Keeping up with his equally talented siblings proved to be a test far too difficult to keep up with and, with little more than hope and a satchel on his back, young Peppermint Mocha set his sights on a culinary school near Everville as his last chance to earn his spot. The weather, like his family, gave him a run for his money and the deluge of snow and hail threw him straight off course-And right in front of the door to a freshly opened boba and sweet shop.

Seeking shelter from the storm inside the shop, the frazzled Pegasus was offered not only the best caramel latte and chocolate cake he'd ever had in his life, but a warm blanket and a place to stay by the pair of shivering Ghoulies who were still running the shop in the dead of winter. He initially laughed at their situation, finding it both funny and oddly-charming that two spring-born Ghoulies would try to stay in Everville during the colder months, but after watching how hard they worked and learning their stories... Peppermint Mocha decided to offer his assistance.

Now, after signing contracts and hiring his own co-owner and winter helper, Boba Belle, Peppermint Mocha finds great joy in working in the shop during the winter. Without that storm tossing him straight into it, he wouldn't have made the three greatest friends of his life, and he wouldn't have been able to find a place where his talents would not only flourish, but would shine.
