Heart and Hooves day has always been about... well, love. Romantic love, platonic, self-love, it all matters. It has never been uncommon to find that Heart and Hooves day is also a big deal, in a way. Festivals run all month long and the Alicorn of Love and Alicorn of Fertility visit these festivals and "offer" their services (more accurately, the Four Queens enforce their participation for morale).
Last year, Heart and Hooves was crashed by the emergence of Changelings, who did not have the best of first impressions. While everyone hoped this years festivals would be less.... chaotic, they only half got their wish. During the beginning of the month there were more frequent appearances of a known urban legend that has been passed for years. Children and adults have told the stories of the headless death bringers and how sighting one means ill-luck. It was always a story, right? Sure, some ponies have claimed up and down they actually saw such a pony, but they've never been able to prove such a thing.
Until now. Right now. Right this very moment.
A group of headless ponies were seen entering the Winter Castle around the first week of February. They did not leave for a few days, but news of such a strange event spread. When they did leave they were welcomed by a group gathered at the gates of the castle. It was then a pony stepped forward and announced who they were; a Dullahan.
Dullahan have been here for some time and are ready to finally do away with their societal rules to avoid the public. With the news that a legend was now reality the world buzzed in excitement. TVs and newspapers ran the same stories; a new breed has been discovered! A legend has come to life!
During this chaos (and perhaps inspired by it), another strange group of ponies emerged. Equipped with beautiful wings, glimmering gems on their forehead, and an eagerness to see the world, the Kelain also stepped forward. They too had been secretive, although only to protect others (and perhaps their own paranoia). They too approached a Queen, this time the Spring Queen, and opened their communities to finally live freely among others.
No doubt the recent discoveries of new breeds of ponies throughout the years has begun to stir exploration groups. How have so many breeds lived so privately and for so long? Perhaps, in the future, expeditions shall be made to find anyone else in hiding...
But for now it is time to celebrate Heart and Hooves, and with new friends! Welcome the Dullahan and Kelain warmly, if you may!
