Quiet and soft-spoken in tone, it's easy to miss Whisperpaw, which he'd honestly prefer you did. A loner in spirit who enjoys collecting morbid facts and losing himself in daydreams, he is quite suited to a more solitary lifestyle despite his birthplace. He enjoys dreary weather and sitting by himself under a tree, losing himself in whatever bounces around in his head and forgetting the world around him. He tends to fade in and out of reality, making him airheaded sometimes, and easily forgets small details. He finds it hard to attach himself to the real world or find interest in pretty much anything, and while that strains his relationships he typically doesn't mind too much.
He's an easy friend to have should you connect with the cat. He requires little and generally assumes his relationships are healthy unless otherwise told. While he's a fairly distant and private cat for the most part, when he feels inclined or puts himself to the task he can be a thoughtful and gentle friend, especially in trying times. He still struggles to maintain societal expectations when it comes to friendships or any relationship, but Whisperpaw does care about the very few he's grown close to.

Born during a famine and drought, Whisperkit was a surprise during very trying times. Regardless, both parents welcomed him with warmth and love and he had a reasonably loving kithood.

Teen life was a fairly peaceful time, especially for the uninterested Whisperpaw. He regularly slacked or skipped his training sessions after the famine and drought began to lift, choosing to instead daydream under trees or spend time pondering about the outside world. Despite multiple lectures from Tigersun and even helping his sister, Starpaw, discover her purpose, Whisperpaw continued to feel out of place with the standard rhythm of clan life.

While it would upset some of his family, Whisperpaw wasn't surprised when Tigersun refused to give him a warrior name upon becoming an adult. After a long discussion of what Whisperpaw wanted out of life, the apprentice was left with even more questions. Did he even want to be a warrior? He liked his family, but he had failed to make any friends within the clan itself up until that point. It was hard to find the attachment for MountainClan, and with the realization that he might just not fit in settling in he began to wonder if he should even stay.

Starpaw has always felt close to her clan and their way and strives to be the ideal vision of what it means to be a MountainClan cat. While her clan may have faced extreme hardship, she still believes in her ancestors and that SunClan shines on them favorably. She gets visibly upset at any indicator of doubting SunClan or the leader of MountainClan and will distance herself from those who speak poorly of either.
She's a quick learner who doesn't see how intelligent she is, resulting in her often comparing herself to others. There's always someone better or more skilled than her-- or so she constantly claims. She isn't overtly melancholy over the thought though, often making such broad statements with a shrug and small smile.
Once she's latched onto an idea she is unlikely to let go, as it'll slowly eat at her brain until it's all she can think about.

Starpaw struggled to find her place in the clan at first, finding no joy in hunting and struggling to keep up with basic warrior tasks. It was her brother Whisperpaw who helped her realize she wanted to be a medicine cat, to which Fernfire readily agreed to help her accomplish as his apprentice.
