A big ol' worrier who will gladly toss a cat for being disrespectful, Basil can be crotchety and bossy towards those who lack manners or are abrasive. He also has a habit of ignoring any comments about he can also be an issue at times. Basil dislikes feeling challenged or threatened and will rise to the challenge. Luckily, Basil won't attack physically without reason, but he will and can rip apart another cat verbally.
While he's a menace towards those he dislikes, Basil is incredibly sentimental toward those he cares for, showing in the form of gifts, kind affirmations, and gestures of affection. He's protective of his crew and his temper seems to spike in relation to them, acting almost like a personal bodyguard at times. He can still be gruff and has a hard time receiving compliments or returned affection, but Basil does his best to show his loved ones that he cares.

Born as a loner in the deep woods as a solo kit, Basil was raised by his single mother. As a small child, he met and befriended another kit named Harlequin. The two bonded immediately and were inseparable and often shared meals and dens together.

When they aren't busy terrifying their close friends by pulling an elaborate and dangerous stunt, they're off sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. Harlequin is a chatty, curious, and adrenaline-chasing cat who doesn't stop for anyone, living a fast and loose life (much to the horror of their loved ones). They don't seem to value their body much, throwing them into harm's way without a second thought. Why waste time worrying and fretting when you never know when you're going to die?
They're fairly friendly and love meeting other cats, although Harlequin has a vindictive and petty side that is triggered when they see someone they love harmed or insulted.

Born in a small litter to lifelong friends, Harlequin was raised with plenty of love. They met and befriended another kit named Basil fairly young and would often spend time at their friend's home, especially if it meant there was food to be had. The two were practically inseparable.

Once an adult, they spent a lot of time sticking their nose into everything and anything. Basil would always sweep them back to safety, which would, unfortunately, encourage the cat to continue causing trouble every turn and second. One of those "troubles" would lead Harlequin to meet Hyacinth after having found himself hiding in her den to avoid an angry dog. She quickly befriended Basil and Harlequin, often tagging along to help clean up any of Harlequin's messes.
