While he's finally found a purpose, Ashenwillow still struggles with his place in the world. Is he doing enough? Is he being good and true to his loved ones? Is he a good cat? These concerns plague his mind regularly, although he's unlikely to voice them and generally keeps them bottled within. He's not exactly eager to talk about his feelings and would much rather console someone else, although if push comes to shove he will turn to his mate for comfort.
Since he's insecure about, well, a lot, Ashenwillow is easily discouraged from attempting the goals and dreams he holds. He often feels like he should be glad about what he has, attributing his desires to greed or selfishness and easily abandoning them if he feels those thoughts are validated. This leads to a deep discomfort that manifests into a terse and snarky exterior, but he's quick to apologize once he realizes his behavior. Hypocritically, Ashenwillow supports others and their goals and will even lend a shoulder in aiding their obtainment.
Coming from a background where he felt underappreciated and alone, Ashenwillow has learned to cherish and protect his loved ones. He's loyal and passionate about those he holds dear, and while earning that affection might take a little longer for the sarcastic and broody cat, once you got him you (most likely) are friends for life.

Ash was born into a tiny litter to two loner parents who didn't really want a family. His father dipped immediately and his mother did the bare minimum up until the kits reached junior age. She also vanished the moment she could, and with nothing keeping the siblings together the group split, leaving Ash on his own.

He wandered aimlessly for ages, wondering if life was meant to be so... hopeless? No, that wasn't the word, but he certainly didn't know the point of life. He just walked, searching for a place to call home and a purpose to fight for. When he bumped into MountainClan he, hopefully, chalked it to fate and joined. Maybe this was his purpose?

Now Ashenwillow, he realized quickly the predicament he put himself in. The clan was experiencing a famine and cats were dropping like flies. Was he supposed to help them? How? Ashenwillow tried his best to be a good clan cat, but it all seemed so... much. No one really connected with him and he became just a tiny voice in a crowd of many. He felt swallowed, and doubt began to form.
The prophecy hit the clan and a choice had to be made; leave the mountains or stay? Well, the mountains didn't feel quite like home anymore, so Ashenwillow chose to leave with the crew heading to find better land. Maybe then he'd fit in?
During their travels, he met Rose, who he took an admittedly hesitant liking to at first. She seemed to get him, though, and when the clans split and he ended up joining LostClan he found himself missing the she-cat exponentially. The feeling seemed mutual, as Rose visited Ashenwillow and eventually joined the clan. Encouraged by her repeated interest in spending time with him, Ashenwillow confessed his growing feelings for her and was delighted she felt the same way.
Now with a new home that met his ideals more and a mate who made him feel worth something, Ashenwillow found a peace he never thought he'd have. He had found what he was looking for. Unfortunately, doubts began to plague his mind; was he good enough for what he had?

An elusive and mercurial cat who really wishes other cats would just follow their heart or get their shit together--which often is the problem for most common cats--and really is tired of giving the same advice, Enigma finds it difficult to relate or connect with others on an intimate level. It's all just the same thing; so and so feels unfulfilled because they're too afraid to obtain their dreams, or whoever isn't being honest with themselves or someone else-- it's all the same shit, and Enigma is bored and done with it. As a result, they're unlikely to stick around long and often come off as a know-it-all with little patience, which isn't helped by their monotone voice or stiff face. Enigma doesn't care really what others think; it sounds like a them problem.
Enigma is fairly adept at problem-solving and genuinely enjoys it when the issue isn't the usual mundane problem. They like a challenge and seek to better themselves when they can and struggle to understand why anyone would be satisfied with their current knowledge. This has given them a plethora of skills they're always growing and developing. They might even teach someone if they ask nicely.
Regardless of their disinterest in most cats, Enigma still has a desire for companionship, they're just... picky. There's no real rhyme or reason to who they feel connected to, or desire to get to know, making it harder for them to find kindred souls. It just sort of happens, and Enigma has yet to piece out what it is that satisfies that part of their heart.

Once an adult it was over for their kittypet life-- Enigma managed to get underfoot and squeeze out the door and bolted into the wild. It was a hard transition into the more feral outdoors, but Enigma was finally happy.
They still missed their family and would visit frequently when they knew the two-legs weren't home, which would lead them to meet another kittypet named Souleater while traveling to their old home. Souleater, much like how Enigma had been, was unhappy living with their two-legs. Unlike most cats Enigma had begun to know, however, Souleater took Enigma's advice to just leave and showed up at Enigma's den covered in muck and rain. Amused with the tom, Enigma decided to share their den with him and the two tackled the world as a team.
Somewhere along the lines, Enigma and Souleater's platonic partnership became an intimate one. The two promised themselves to one another, although Enigma delighted in the eye roll from their new mate when Enigma teased him.
Their sibling, Paradox, showed up at Enigma's den one evening and the couple housed the former kittypet until they found their feet in the world.
