[CYOA] The Second Floor

The temptation of finding a secret floor proves too much to pass up, and as you leave the Security room you can't help but look for it.
On the shelf you notice a stack of flashlights, and you make the very quick and wise decision to grab one and a couple of the rolling loose batteries, juuust in case.
It doesn't take long, no sooner had you crossed the foyer the tiny blinking light of a security camera caught your attention, and you veer to the left of the entrance turnstiles in favor of this rather boring looking door.
You go to push it open and notice its wedged shut, but a little elbow grease and patience manages to get the door open enough for you to slide in.
You look down behind the door to see what caused it and sigh at the sight of one of the staff bots, knocked over and out of power it seems.
Wiping your brow, you turn back to the stairs... well, what should have been stairs.
You're instead staring into the dark, with a ladder plummeting into the depths.
That's really... odd.
But on the bright side, you can see a light down there.
Mustering your courage, you climb down, but the further you climb, the more the musty smell of old food hits you.
The bottom of the ladder isn't anything you recognize, it almost feels like just dirt... indoors?
You turn around, and now you understand why.
There's a rather shambled old building down here, the faded letting of an old pizzeria just above the darkened entrance.
You quickly take out your flashlight when you realize that light you noticed before is long gone... it seems something wanted you down here.
You try to shine the light thru the glass of the front door, but it's too caked with dust to be very useful.
You can just make out a checkered tile floor and some old tables pushed to the sides of an old stage.
Without warning, an old soda bottle rolls out from the withered shrubbery to the left of you, and a quick flashlight pan of the area shows drag marks going around the side of the building from behind the bushes.
Maybe looking around outside for a bit seems like a good idea?
You could also follow the drag marks, or maybe you should just try the front door and look around inside?

Who needs a survival instinct when you look as good as Jaxx did? That reasoning had gotten them this far, anyway, and he wasn't about to change things up anytime soon. That's how ponies got hurt. If it wasn't broken, then it didn't need fixing, and that logic had carried him down into the depths of wherever.

Looking around outside was boring. The drag marks, though? Now that was almost an idea, but the scowl that tightened across their face reminded him of what Nain would say. Ah, Nain, Nain, Nain. He had promised his spouse to not do anything they wouldn't do, and Jaxx was pretty sure Nain wouldn't go after what they had always rolled their eyes about in horror movies.

So that left try the front door and look around inside. He was hungry, anyway.

Esme definitely wants to make absolutely certain there is nothing to miss by looking around outside . She certainly hopes the night air will at least be entertaining.

Glance decides to check the front door and peek around inside. Maybe there's something interesting in there - drag marks are too obvious, though. Someone probably doing some WORK, or something.

The front door doesn't want to budge at first, but after giving it a good shove it opens with an eerie creak. You're instantly met with a fine layer of dust, and coughing through it, you can finally take in the rest of the building.
The tile floor is much darker than it seemed outside, with noticeable old stains littering the floor and a scattering of old coupon papers and game tickets.
It's a lot smaller than you'd expect, but there do seem to be multiple things you can check out in here.
Tucked away in the right corner of the room is a toy vending machine, and your flashlight bounces off what could be a spare token or two laying on the floor around it...
Looks like there's also a security room down here as well, and the restrooms are just to the right of the security door.
Then again, that main stage right in front of you at the back of the room is pretty tempting too, with doors on either side of it...

Which way will you go?

Surely following the marks on the ground won't cause you any unwarranted death right?
So you follow them as they wrap around the side of the building... eww, what the-?
You almost stepped on something really... sticky....

Oh, it seems this little creature was the source of the marks?
they do seem a bit big for it though...
Ah well. Guess this little thing is going to follow you through the rest of your explorations now.

Looking just beyond the marks, you can see this side of the building seems to be where the dumpster is, and the side door is just in view.
Maybe you can check out what's in the dumpster? Or maybe just going into the side door will find something interesting for you?

Well, I mean... it IS food, but they seem a little too rambunctious to be edible.
They are also keen on sitting on your head and refuse to budge an inch.
Well then...

You decide looking around outside is your best bet, so you poke around that decrepit bit of shrubbery you saw the can roll out of just moments before...
Oh. Well, that's... certainly something you didn't expect to see here.

The tiny creature seems like it wants to stick with you too. Goody.

Aside from that, the outside is pretty dark and there's not much to be seen out here. The foundation of the building above is all around you, it almost feels like you're encapsulated in a cement dome of some madman's design. For SOME reason, this building was worth keeping, hidden away....?
Well, it looks like your only real options now are to check out the building, right?
Though I suppose you could always go back and look at those drag marks again...

Which way will you go?

Zion considers the dumpster but reason says there wouldn't be anything of much interest in there right? So they choose to go into the side door and explore the building more.

Jinx waved the dust away from her face, taking in her surroundings. It was tempting to go for the security room, but given her own tendency to want to be the center of attention, she made her way towards the main stage.

Ah— a friend! They had forgotten the name of whatever kind of creature had jumped onto his head, but Jaxx was more than pleased with the addition. ”Hey, little dude. Guess you’re hangin’ with me, huh?”

Now, he had options— the toy machine was enticing, but easily forgotten by both the sight of the main stage and then the security rooms in the back. Their maw spread into a sharp smile— ah, maybe they could get a better view of the building if the cameras worked (and find the kitchen….)

”Off we go!~” Jaxx’s voiced trailed after them as he headed to the security room.

Esme stares at the living pastry. It's not that she was hoping for a monster, but she certainly was not expecting googly eyes to follow her every move.

Thinking on her new "friend", could a living cupcake that gurgles be considered a friend? Regardless she has a new thing following her around might as well let it keep bouncing after her. At most it will be a distraction from boredom.

She heads back towards the building perhaps she can find out something more there.

Glance can't help but investigate the toy vending machine, curious if it's still in operation. It might not seem like the most thrilling thing in the world, but some proof of this little expedition could be fun to take home!

No sooner had you decided on the side door, a strangely melodic voice rings through the door.
"Shhhh, now, now~"
Your brow furrows, and you yank the door open just in time to see someone step right into your path....

Oh, oh this can't be good, and she takes a menacing step towards you.
"Going somewhere?"

In a panic, you consider what to do:
Confront this bunny head on? Or maybe you just want to book it around front and maybe lose them inside the building?

The main stage, being the focal point for the establishment, is little more than a semicircle of wood with a few lights around the trim; definitely a sign the building is significantly older than the one upstairs.
Despite that, the curtains haven't fallen into the same state of aging as the rest of the place, and the red velvet texture looks almost brand new.
The stage itself, however, is pitted and marked from years of use and left in a significant state of disrepair.
Getting this close, however, you do notice a little light trickling from behind the curtain.
Maybe if you pulled it aside there might be something of interest?
But then those doors on the left and right side of the stage, upon closer inspection, have faded lettering on them.
The left seems to say "Party Room", while the door to the right side seems to say "Maintenance".

Which direction will you go?

You set off for the Security Room, and the door seems to be solid? A cursory glance of the walls reveals a button, and you press it with a small glimmer of hope as the door slides open with a resounding thud.
Despite the outdated equipment, the room itself is pretty clean, despite the state of disrepair of the rest of the building.
A few monitors sit on the desk, with a rolling chair tucked neatly underneath and a few filing cabinets to the left side of the room, with a small lidded trash can.
The lid is in motion, which is odd considering there's no wind in this room to make it move....
The space is a bit cramped, but you can see switches on the desk that might turn on the monitors.
You can check out the trash, who knows, maybe there's something to find in there, or maybe you should try to just turn on the monitors?
Going back and trying a new direction is always an option too...

What will you do?
