Max nodded in reply to what Oliver said. Especially since the little Aron was still so new to him, Max really needed to make sure to get to know it better. Magnus and Morgana were drama queens when it came to injuries, Morgana especially, so he had no issues thus far. But this little bruiser...

Oh, that would be a cute name! Grinning to himself, he would hop a few steps closer to Oliver so they could start on their journey again. Fingers laced behind his head as he walked, lips forming to start a little whistle. One of the few sounds he could actually make.

A few feet more, and suddenly Oliver would shift to the side. Max's eyes widened as he lurched forward to try to help the other, only to realize he had caught himself before he could slide far. Max let out a small wheeze and extended a hand, his other gently pushing Mothra back to make sure they didn't slip down too.

"You sure?" he signed one handed, leaning over to check too. "At least your shins don't look like mine," he continued, before sticking his tongue out at Oliver. His hand was extended again to help Oliver up.

"The only people who's shin's look like yours are people who also own arons," Oliver said tiredly, eyes shut as he relaxed in the fresh sea breeze for a moment. It was still a very pleasant day out and he should get back in the groove.

He took the offered hand, standing up and dusted off his clothes. "But yes, this is a thorn bush, do keep out for them. Sometimes they have delicious berries, other times they are just full of pain and suffering," Oliver lectured, motioning to the bush. "Watch out for loose gravel." He gave a small little snort of amusement, lips twitching as he kept his face mostly stern.

"Shall we continue?"

There was a nod. Yeah, that would make sense. Though he was certain Oliver had once had equally as busted shins while learning how to surf. Max still wanted to learn how to surf. Via board or Poke'mon, he didn't particularly care. It looked fun. And Nauwill would be the place to do that. All he had to worry about was Oliver mother henning him about injuries.

A breathy wheezy laugh escaped as Oliver went on about the bushes. Max swung his head and rolled his eyes like 'uh-huh yeah sure thing mom', then stuck his tongue out at the stern face Oliver attempted to keep.

When urged to continue, Max smiled and nodded, motioning for Oliver to stay back behind him as he took the lead. He was already banged up enough as is. This way, he could just take more hits and Oliver could stay pristine and clean.

It didn't take long, however, for them to have another snag in their trip. It was Magnus who brought it to Max's attention that the Aron was lagging behind. He would turn to look, spying the rump of the little bundle of steel sticking out of a bush. Max would snap a few times, and even clap, to try to get its attention, before sighing and walking over to try to tug it from the bush.

After a few moments, the Aron would wiggle free, tiny stubby legs thrashing as it rocked its head back and forth. Morgana barked in alarm, making Max put the Aron into his lap and look more closely. The Aron had a big ol rock in its mouth! At first, Max was concerned, and went about trying to help get it free.

This stopped quickly as the little thing nearly bit the tip of his finger off, and instead finally cracked through the hunk of rock with a happy cry. It continued to munch on it, confusing Max, before he remembered... "Oh, right, they like to eat rocks," he would sign up to Oliver with a huffy laugh.

"Ahh... well yes, some do like rocks." Oliver always found them to be a bit odd but it was perfectly healthy for the Aron to just snack on some rocks. "Did he get your finger? They have a lot of bite force in their jaws." A small warning to not just keep reaching in his pokemon's mouths. Really. Oliver could only do soo much and a severed finger was not really in his wheel house.

He could pack it and manage it till they got back but he really didn't want to handle that today. "How are you finding the trip so far?" He questioned.

"He didn't get my finger," he signed quickly, before holding up both hands and wiggling all his digits. Still in tact, no blood. "Not this time, at least." A breathy laugh as he would shake his head, then run his fingers through his pony tail.

"So far, so good! Maybe a bit boring, since we haven't seen too much. I'd love to see more Poke'mon or other people. Something lively and fun, you know?" His hands flew quickly through the words after he removed the Aron from his lap again. Max hauled himself back up.

"How about you?" he would ask back, head tilted curiously at his friend.

"I been out here before so it not going to be too lively, but there are some nice spots to watch the waves come in," Oliver said, thinking. "Most of the creatures are small here, but the lefmews tend to gather in groups. We might find some if you want to attempt to pet something." The velvety soft plant times were light and mainly harmless.

"It takes time for things to take off. It is going to be slow," Oliver said bemused. "But I will admit I do miss surfing." He wanted to do that again... soon.

"Then let's go out and watch the waves for a bit," he would sign with a smile. "I can see a..." Max squinted, uncertain how to even spell Lefmew. "Small cute friend later." Max would take Oliver by the wrist and gently tug him in a direction, before Oliver would be able to point him in the other direction towards where they could watch and listen to the waves. A big goofy grin was on the redhead's face as he nodded his thanks, and then released the others wrist and started off in the direction he stated.

As they walked, Max would stumble into a hidden nest of Pidoves. Eyes widened as they flew straight up into his face, knocking him sideways and down. Morgana and Magnus both barked and growled in protest, but the little Aron was the first to take action.

He charged forward at the Pidoves that assaulted Max, barreling into the side of one of them with ease. Max was pushing himself back up with the help of his other two Poke'mon, wheezing and rubbing his rump. Max was excited to see the little Aron taking on one of the Pidove with little fear, and actually ended up knocking one out. While he felt bad, he also felt proud of his little steel pup.

Fishing a Research Ball from his pocket, Max hyucked it in the direction of the knocked out Pidove before the Aron could run it over again. Better to save it from being trampled to death. The ball rocked once or twice before going still, and Magnus bolted forward to grab the ball and bring it back to Max.

By now, any surviving Pidove had scattered, leaving the Aron running circles making a mix of excited and upset sounds. Max would flop backwards into the dirt and stare up at Oliver with a laugh.

Oliver clapped his hands at the spectacle. "That was very good, congrats on the capture," he said, fingers signing quickly. "Your Aron is getting much better at aiming." He smiled at the excited pokemon. "But I guess the question is, are you alright? It seems you landed rather hard on your tail bone."

Attracted by the noise or the smell of blood a group of N. Weedle appeared out of the grass the bug types glancing around and taking an aggressive stance. "Well it looks like we have more company. Mothra if you would? Disarming voice."

Mothra gleefully went forward on attack and was overwhelmed by bugs. Nasty and too many bugs. She gave a soft mournful cry as she fainted and was rapidly called back to her pokeball. "Okay too many bugs, might be best to get the heck out of here."
